The base doesn't swivel but has a really good locking mechanism compared to the Elite series. Other than that they appear to be very feature packed, and offer very similar features at a fraction of the cost.

A lot of different Sonars out there !
With only a one year warrantee on them I hate to spent the big bucks on one to find out it does not work on the second year out.

Was thinking of buying the Hook 2 5 inch screen ,and found out you can not do a split screen with it .

Not sure what to buy now....Garmin might be the next think to look at .

JR, you’re wrong. The Hook2 5” can run split screens. Who told you that at what store? You can make custom pages. I’ll send you a few pictures. I don’t know how to post on here since they took away hosting on photobucket

I have seen videos showing split screen views.

Won't be many people with experience with these fish finders since they are brand new this year.

In that price range you have Hook 2, Helix or Striker. All fairly similar. I personally would probably go with the Helix just because of autochart live.

Ravyak,

Have you ever used genesismaps.com?

Once it’s live it will be the best mapping program out there with its sharing social map capabilities

I look at it but haven't bothered to use it. I use sonarcharts live to make my own but don't like that I have to pay for yearly Navionics Updates to use it.

When Lowrance gets a better live mapping software I may get behind it. Till then I like autochart live. No yearly subscription and also does bottom and weed mapping. I know genesis has those capabilities but unless/until it goes live I won't be using it.
