Default Hook 7 Help

Bought a Hook 7 last year and find it hard to use , I mostly run rivers in my jet boat , is there not a chip I can buy that shows the river I am on and the creeks that come into it ? . Mine won’t even show the lake I am on , I only use what ever came with the unit . Thank you

Look in the box again, should of come with a chip that is full of lakes.

I bought one on boxing day and it came with one.
I returned the unit the next weekend ,as the screen would freeze up if I hit the zoom button 3 times.

Mine is a lot slower then I would have liked it to be as well and freezes up every now and then, maybe once a day.

The Navionics chips are garbage, they will give you general depths but there is a ton of structure that is not on them. You are best to look on the insight website and see if the waterbodies that you fish are on there and then download them, if not then start mapping yourself!!

As far as I know, there are no chips that show the rivers in Alberta.

Now I'm not sure about where you're running but I run the North Saskatchewan and can see even just over the winter pretty significant changes in the river which is why they don't bother mapping it.

I use the mapping feature on my hummingbird unit to map out the river for myself, I don't know if your unit has the ability to do that, but if you are interested in having a depth map I think making it yourself is the best way to go.

www.genesismaps.com

Create a free account and start making your own maps.

All you need is a blank card and go into the sonar menu and record your sonar logs. I normally make my files about an hour long and then stop it and start a new recording in case it’s a corrupt file. I haven’t had a bad one yet but try to keep the file size down.
