I can’t say that I blame Canadian tire. I think we are being pretty hard on them. I had an SKS at my house along with a bunch of other guns and when I looked at all my guns and thought if someone was going to do something stupid with a gun which one would he/she choose? Easy choice. We have to remember that Canadian tire is not a gun store. It’s just a store that sells guns and would we rather they didn’t sell guns and hunting and fishing equipment at all. They are already taking a stand that they support hunting and fishing. There is a certain amount of risk associated with that. They just think the SKS is too much risk and I don’t blame them. let’s face it, is that the hill they want to die on? if someone goes and buys a gun from them and shoot something or someone up. It’s not likely that anyone is going to attack a gun store but I think Canadian tire would be at risk for a lawsuit.
Personally I’m glad companies like Canadian tire, Walmart and under armour are OK with showing their support hunting. We can’t blame them for not being ultimate purists.

Lol. So your reasoning is that Canadian Tire is justified in their decision to pull the SKS because someone might do something foolish with it?

I’m not saying that’s how they justify their reasoning, I am saying that is why I think they did it. The risk was not worth the gain of selling a few rifles. I am sure the victims families would try to sue Canadian tire if there was ever an incident. That’s how it goes.

I agree with heretohunt. CT is saying that they are serving a traditional hunting community. They want to sell traditional hunting rifles or shotguns. They aren't there to serve the 3 gun crowd. They aren't there to serve the IPSC crowd. Sure they may have ammo for them, but they are there to serve the waterfowlers. The deer hunters. Our traditional roots of firearm use. They don't want to sell "black rifles". Now an SKS isn't quite a "black rifle", but it is gaining that notoriety.

Now just because they did this doesn't mean they will be perfect. Uninformed people probably walked the aisles and picked out the "scary" guns. They got rid of the SKS and probably left the mini14 sitting right beside it. Who cares if CT isnt selling the SKS anymore; there were stores with better pricing on them anyways. I'm glad CT supports me as a hunter and they made me an awesome deal on an x-bolt stainless stalker.
