Alternative Restricted Firearm Transfer Methods
On Point Training just posted this to 250Hunter page on Facebook - thought it might be of assistance for some:
If you are currently trying to transfer a restricted firearm and you are not getting any progress on the phone, there are alternative methods.
Fill out RCMP form 5492e (attached, click the link at the bottom) and get it over to the CFO in Miramichi by email, fax and maybe even document courier. The fax number for the National Contact Centre in Miramichi is (613) 825-0297. The email address iscfp-pcaf@rcmp-grc.gc.ca and the mailing address is on the form itself.
Good luck, may the odds be ever in your favour!

If one has troubles please contact your MP. My father used to be an office manager for a MP and any complaints/ inquiries must be looked into

They got a section on there for "Firearm Verifier" . If your not sure if your firearm has been "Verified" call the Center. Yah right. The one i'm selling is of course registered so must be a "verified" firearm ?
Going to give er a Try. Thanks a bunch Nog !

Yes that's another joke because you need a permit to take the gun to one unless he will come to your home.Oh and you can't get through cause they're not answering phones.

It seems that part of that form is filled out but seller & part by the buyer. Do I get the buyer to complete his part, send it back to me then Send it all in?

When you call the CFC, try using menu options 1,6,1 rather than the traditional 1,4,2. You will get an actual person on the phone most times you try, but most will not be trained to perform restricted transfers; they'll transfer you back to the regular line. But...BIG BUT!.... you will eventually get someone that can do Restricted transfers! It took me 7-8 tries but once I got the right person it was easy. I conference called and merged the other party for the transfer and got the whole thing done. No need for the other party to call later.
Good luck!

25 times? Well, that won't get it done. I managed to get through twice since they announced the freeze on transfers, but I was on the phone for well over 12 hours, and dialed around 800 times or so. I was keeping count for a while, but after 600 I even gave up on that.
25 is not going to get it done.

Still striking out. 500 + calls. Called my MP and they heard all the crying , lots of VERY un happy LAWFUL gun owners. I hope we can distance ourselves from this gong show and have our own Provincial stand alone Firearms Center similar to how US states do it . I have emailed the AB CFO and get vanilla responses with instructions on how to call , push 1-4-2 . I know that bin doing it for years.
We have a Provincial CFO I want action , not paper pushing. I here she is a real great gal but time to start showing her teeth. Maybe she is doing everything her office can ?? Don't know...... but this is pure you know what.

Has anyone on here tried the alternative method using form 5492e and had success with it? If so, I'd like to know how long it took from start to finish.
I'm concerned that once the form has been sent in and received by Miramichi, it may just sit there and gather dust and that the legislation will have passed before they get around to completing the process.
Any info that anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hit the 1-6-1 route. Get a person on the phone and they’ll put you in line for next restricted qualified personnel. 2nd time worked, plus a 38 minute wait on speaker so make sure you got somethings to do

I attempted this as well but kept getting dropped by the queue.
The nice lady I talked to however did give me the actual extension for the queue.
1800 731-4000
hit 1, 1 then enter extension 2502
If there is room in the queue you will be in it. Otherwise it just drops your call with a message saying they can't answer.

I was directed to a forms section when I got through today. They said fill it out and mail it in. I will do it double registered to see what happens. Anyone else tried this method?
RCMP-GRC.GC.CA go to Firearms, then quick links, then Firearms forms, then registration or transfer, then RCMP 5492 Print and mail it in.

I did the form to start and transfer and it did go through. took time but I spook with the CFC regarding a different transfer and they brought it up. Said all was well and that it was just waiting for the CFO to process. Its a good way to do it and avoid the gongshow that is trying to call in

I got through to someone today after idk how many phone calls over the past three weeks. I got so used to the hold messages being the background music to my daily life I damn near fell out of my chair when she started talking.
Submitting the form for another transfer today so we’ll see if it gets done any faster.

That is an outdated form. You will want to get the June 2022 version from the RCMP website instead.

Current version of the form.
The fax number for the National Contact Centre in Miramichi is (613) 825-0297. The email address iscfp-pcaf@rcmp-grc.gc.ca and the mailing address is on the form itself.
Instructions from the site.
https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firear...rring-firearms
Restricted and Prohibited Firearms
Telephone: Contact the CFP at 1-800-731-4000.
The CFP must speak with both the transferor (seller) and the transferee (buyer) for the transfer of restricted and prohibited firearms. However, both parties do not need to be available at the same time. Follow the steps below.
The following information must be provided to the CFP:
if you are an individual transferor (seller) you will need to provide your full name, address and firearms licence number, and the transferee's (buyer's) full name and PAL number
if you are a business transferor (seller) you will need to provide your business licence and business identification number, and the transferee's (buyer's) full name, address and firearms licence number
if you are an individual transferee (buyer) you will need to provide your firearms licence number, full name and address, and the transferor's (seller's) full name and firearms licence number
if you are a business transferee (buyer) you will need to provide your business licence and business identification number, and the transferor's (seller's) full name, address and firearms licence number
if you initiate the transfer you will need to provide the registration certificate number and confirm the firearm information (make, model, serial number, firearms identification number, etc.)
When you call the CFP, you will be provided with a transfer number. Make sure the transferor (seller) and the transferee (buyer) have that transfer number
The CFO for the jurisdiction receives the request and will review the transfer to make sure that the transferee (buyer) is acquiring the restricted firearm or prohibited handgun for one of the permitted purposes (Firearms Act, Section 28)
Both the transferor and the transferee will receive a confirmation notice to let them know the transfer is complete. After a transfer is approved the new registration certificate will be mailed to the new owner within a few weeks

Restricted transfer help.
I was able to use the ext. 2502 because the phone system will tell you there open at 9am but in MST for us but I also phoned really early in on EST and got placed in line through a line transfer from a nice lady. 10 min on hold I was able to complete a transfer. The seller tried the normal way and ya almost a month later. They did how every say that after transfer you can expect 3 or 4 weeks yet before CFO email to confirm to be able to pick your restricted firearm.
Be very polite, these folks are working hard to try get this stuff done. The ladies I talked to were very nice and helpful.
Hope this helps

I have a workable solution. It requires you to be a little bit tech savy on an iPhone. PM for details.
The problem is that it's one number for the whole country. By the time it hits 9:00 AM local the queue is jammed full.

Form 5492E
Just sent my form off via email this morning. I will try and log on when the transfer goes through to give a timeline.
