Default Old and freezer burnt meat

Hey guys, I am looking for an old and freezer burnt meat for my pup. The stuff that you are ready to throw out. Beef, deer, moose, elk, chicken, turkey. No pork.
The hunting season is just around the corner and if you want to free some space in your freezers- my little guy would appreciate the treats! Last year a few fine gentlemen here helped me out a lot! I am in Edmonton. I am willing to trade for beer, etc. Appreciate any quantities.

Put a note on your local Facebook page. I bet you will get lots of takers.

Sadly I had some freezer burnt stuff but a buddy took it for his pup.

I occasionally have some freezer burnt fish if the vacuum pack seal is broken however I just skim off the surface with a sharp filleting knife.

Great way to get some good use out of meat.

Let me know if you’re in the Calgary area, I’m sure I have 10 or 20lbs worth hiding in the freezer.

I did - in both Kijiji and Facebook marketplace. But I need “givers”, not “takers”, 🤣lol! Not a single reply as of yet. TBark is giving me some and I am very grateful for that!

Thanks Remi, I don’t have any plans to go to Calgary any time soon but I will definitely keep you in mind. Thanks again!

Freezer burn is not near as common as it used to be. Have you tried talking to local butcher shops, Sobeys, Safeway etc that cut their own meat looking for scrap meats.

My little guy absolutely refuses to eat wild geese! I left the goose meat in his bowl for three days- he ate everything else out of his bowl but refused the goose, lol! Was going hungry but wouldn’t eat it!

Damn! Do people wrap their meats better now?
Big grocery store are no go.
Local butcher in my area offered me some scraps but it was 90% fat. No good either.

Waiting for the hunting season to start, I’m sure some of the folks here will be inspecting their freezers.

What about if you boiled it for a few minutes?

Proof positive goose is crap to eat. When even a Labrador won't eat it it has to be really bad.

You may want to try making a stew out of the goose meat. Cut it into 1 inch cubes, cook slowly with spuds, carrots or even just the peels from them and water. Add some shredded cheddar right at the end. You should have a nice thick gravey when done. We cooked it outside on the bbq side burner so it didn't aroma the house. We used to do that with bear, geese etc for our dogs. They would eat the stew but wouldn't touch the meat raw.

Best Goose recipe:
Completely thaw and pat dry breasts.
Season to taste heavy on salt.
Add oil to prevent sticking, place breasts on baking sheet.
Place 2 round baseball sized rocks on sheet.
Bake at 350 for 30 min.
Remove from oven
Throw away Goose and eat rocks.....

Default Bumping this again

Hey guys, the hunting season is almost here so check your freezers, lol!
I’m pretty much out of meat that I was given last year by a wonderful people here. So if anybody wants to get rid of the deer, moose or elk that was sitting on the bottom of the freezer for the past 5 years- I would greatly appreciate that! Any wild game or beef or chicken/turkey is great for my little buddy! No pork.
Thanks!
