While not it’s intended target, the Romaine in my garden didn’t stand a chance.

You caped out that big guy perfectly. So smooth, no nicks in the hide, great job.

I do as well. Super nice.
I should have done this the first time around. I usually have jimping and mosaic pins. Went more conservative on my first order and regretted it.

Nice looking knife. I sharpen my two blade broadheads every fall and have done so for 30 plus years and shaving arm hair off is my guide or test. I can honestly say that it does grow back but not in the same amount, at least not on my arms.......

Got my new toy!
This 2X72 belt grinder, 2HP motor-240V with speed control will help me immensely with metal/wood work on knives...and anything else that needs grinding...

Just catching up on the thread a little…

The workmanship is impeccable. I like the Micarta scales more than I thought, as the canvas gives it an interesting look as it changes with the contours. It's not highly figured Desert Ironwood, but it's not meant to be. The kydex sheath is a perfect fit, and very easy to remove when done properly.
It is a substantial knife, but not a Buck 119 or anything. Big enough to give me a little bit extra blade length when needed on a large animal or skinning fish, but still easy enough to choke up one for fine work.
I've included a picture with a Grohmann Bird and Trout which Elk11 recently gave my son, as well as a few others for perspective. I won't bore you by trying to describe how razor sharp the blade is. Let's just say it's really really sharp. Here are some pics. The next ones will be with it covered in blood, hopefully the cow moose I drew for. I am going to put it to the test this fall on everything from pheasant to moose to fish. I think it will make a very good knife to take game from field all the way to fork.
Tonight, I'm happy.

That’s a great looking knife, sns! Congrats! And micarta, lol!
It doesn't look identical to the southfork to me, but you probably know better. Similar but not identical. Although, I haven’t seen a southfork in a while.
What’s the blade length? I saw a few like this one sold over the years, but most had different blade lengths, from over 3 to close to 5 inches long. This one looks closer to 5.
Also, quite a deviation from the original thought - the semi-skinner. I now, as I wrote it, remember I asked you this before, so I will scroll some pages back.
For all-arounder, including full processing and kitchen, this one beats semi-skinner easily, imo. Doubt you would notice any difference shaving hands though.
Again, congrats and can’t wait to hear the field and after report!
Lastly, don’t do to it what you did to that Henckel (especially) sharpening it, lol. That one looks like my dad’s knife in the kitchen, lol: destroyed blade, but about as dull as before he sharpened it.
Great looking blade as well, Pathfinder! That one shoild come as part of the set for sns’s knife

A couple more pics for you, Phil.
This one is from the crotts I posted a while ago here:
This one is something else, about the same size knife, a tad smaller (maybe?), priced about the same, a bit more (maybe?):
For horizontal carry as well, but that “belt loop” is pretty tacky, imo. Crotts wins in that department easily, imo. However, I do appreciate the little place for the finger:
It does make a hell of a difference, in my humble opinion.
Here is another one. I posted this one earlier as an example of “operating” a kydex sheath. The knife is quite a bit larger, but this one is the best made kydex sheaths of the three, imo:
And the drain hole is where it should and makes the most sense, practically and aesthetically:
I could post a few more, but this is all I got “handy”. The internet is full of examples though.

These are nice, though the drain holes could sure use some space:
Big Chris goes nuts with his colour choices:
There are also various neat belt loop adapters available on the web. For example, https://sagewoodgear.com/quick-ship-...=shopify_email

Hey Fishnguy.
THANX for all the sheath pics you have posted! Greatly appreciated...
I like the "rectangular" drain hole at the bottom of one of the sheaths. I am experimenting doing the same thing using a bamboo Chinese chopstick for the hole. Interesting technique, but seems to work.
Thanx again...

^ Sure thing, Phil! Post up pics when done (or in-process)
Saw a knife dropping on the bladeforums today and thought some may appreciate the wood. Check out this handle:
Birdseye Siamese Rosewood the listing says. Quite (or way too) cool. Carbon fiber/copper weave bolster. More pics in the link above if anyone is interested. Thought some of you wood guys may appreciate it. Someone there made a comment that it looks on fire. Have to agree with that. I haven’t seen one like that before.

Picture Daryl Crotts sent me this morning. Nearly done, should ship within the next week or so, along with a LH Kyadex horizontal, plus a vertical sheath. It is a semi Skinner with a Finger groove handle and a slight flair at the back end of the handle, versus the more common straight handles.

Wow that is a beautiful knife. What steel did Crotts use for the knife?

I ordered D2 as that is what he is famous for making. I have knives made of other high end steels so am interested to compare this one to an S30V for example in edge, edge retention etc.

Looks amazing. What grind did you get? It looks like its not nearly as high as usual? That blade should be a beast at gutting/skinning

I didn't specify a grind or much of anything else in blade design. I asked him to make the knife the way he thought best with my intent being to only use it on game, not a general purpose knife. All I specified was stag handle material, red handle liner, one finger groove and mosaic pins.

Wait until he gets it in his paws after it has been spit polished. Dean, that is seriously nice my friend. Glad he found you the stag you wanted.

That is a very nice knife!
If you don't mind me asking, what is the blade length?
Reason I'm asking is I am presently experimenting with these semi skinner blades.
Some other fine AO members have shared similar information on this, which I greatly appreciated, and I am trying to figure out a "medium"...Thanx...
