Default Electronics help please.

You guys are a wealth of knowledge and I am looking to locate something. I need a 120v ac to 12v dc 1 amp 5.5mmX2.5mm plug center neg converter cable. I have search the web but all I can find is center positive. Yes I realize I can cut and reverse wires but that is not ideal. Anyone with a lead to a reasonably priced solution?

Like this but with the polarity reversed.

What does it power?
Could you switch the wires on what ever it powers?

Ken it says right in the Amazon description that the polarity cannot be reversed.

It is off of a scale, it is under warranty but I am getting a royal run around. I think I will just buy a unit off oy Amazon and reverse the wires, it would be easiest but an eye sore. I am guessing the cable is designed as a consumable, with built in surge protection? Any way the factory cable is $$$$. Hopefully the company will honor their warranty.

Piker, are you able to post a picture of the original adapter, with the model number etc?

Some manufacturers have cross references for this kind of thing.

Default Electronics help please.

This should work, if I’m not mistaken:

Like Ken was saying, these kinds should be available at places like The Source etc. too. The key thing you’re looking for is that the interchangeable plugs are reversible so you can set the polarity.

On some, the tip’s posts are different thicknesses to only allow one polarity. On this one they are the same, so the polarity is selectable:
