Default Fishing near alix

Hey guys I recently moved to Alix and am wondering what might be around here for fishing. I am aware of the red deer river and buffalo lake but mostly wondering where I could take my seven year old shore fishing. She has a hard time fishing the river, somewhere we could throw out some bait would be ideal. Any suggestions appreciated!

There are always pelicans on that pond east of town on hwy 12.
Is that all private land?
Is there fish in there?
(Although if it is all privately owned, I guess it's none of my damn business)

Tees has trout pond north after the tracks.
