Default Scope Rings

The situation - 30mm scope rings/bases with a 30mm scope can I get away using "lows" or should I get mediums? Thanks

What’s the scope?
What’s your objective?
What kind of rifle are you mounting it on?

Standard Low Leupolds on a regular Leupold windage adjustable 2 piece base will be tight but will work, you won't have room for slip on scope covers, will need to use Aluma from Leupold with that scope and gun. If you use Pic or an MOA rail, then you will have to test fit because tolerances vary a lot depending on who made the bases.

For my rifles, its all about how the rifle fits me when i bring it up .
I like my scopes as low as i can go .
The best advice I can give you since you are asking .
Bring your rifle and scope into a gun shop and see which rings fit the best when your scope has covers on .
If to low, the objective lens will hit the barrel .
Every rifle can have a different fit with the same scope .
I hope this answer helps you .

JR is right that test fitting at a gun shop is ideal because different scope rings and bases means way different fit by maker. I have always kept a variety of rings on hand to facilitate fitting scopes to guns. That said, if you know which rings and bases you want to use, all of the makers post the height of their bases and the height of their low, medium and High bases. It is pretty simple to add them up to calculate what combo you need.

Here is an example of the Chart from Weaver. Click on hte link it will download a PDF. They all make them.
