Post Tips for badger sets.

Anyone have some tips for badger sets? The trapper manual shows 280’s in a box semi buried and traps at the entrance to unoccupied tunnels. Is this the most productive set? What lure is your guys go to?

Savageau 8x8 fits perfect in almost all there holes an it has a real good neck catch that will dispatch them. You have to find out what hole they are in so bring a shovel an fill holes. Then you know what ones are active. Sometimes they fill the hole entrance after entering but this time of the year I have found they don’t as much with the warm weather. I don’t use bait just put lots of traps out

i don't spend much time on them, but have had great luck when i do. go get some dead chickens from the local hutterites. stick one down the hole (just any hole) and put a big konibear over the hole......they will find the chicken.

i've never caught a coyote in a conibear, but the same setup with legholds is dynamite for dogs. don't know what it is about dead chickens.....

Default You guys called it.

Nailed it guys, I did what you guys recommended with a few site specific edits. I didn’t have chickens but the rancher had a lot of pigeons he didn’t like so I used them and the plethora of prairie dogs for bait. I filled all the holes around the traps and it seemed to have worked out well. Maybe it funnelled them in to the traps.

This is my first catch couldn’t be happier or more excited. I dont know if there’s a measuring stick for badger but he weighed 20lb and had 1-1/4” front claws thanks everyone for helping me out.

looks good. i've had good luck with the 330's....they'll try to walk through it and when caught around the body are often dead when you get there.
