Anyone have any opinions on where Kahles fits in compared to Leupold?
I have owned over a dozen Leupolds, seven Swarovskis, four Zeiss scopes, six Bushnells,a weaver,a nightforce, and I have used several other scopes including Kahles. In my opinion Kahles offers superior lenses and coatings compared to Leupold. For the price, many of the competitors offer better lenses and coatings than Leupold, which is why I no longer buy Leupold scopes.

I'm a big fan of the Leupold LR reticle on my rifle.....works very well, very quick once you get to know how to use it.....

Kahles was the oldest optics company in Austria....it was bought by Swaro to gain the rights to TD Smith's reticle which Kahles owned.

No comparison Nube.....yours is better than anything Leupold has ever made IMO.

I have a VERY old Kahles on one of my rifles, it is a fixed 3.5 and very clear.
It may be about 40 years old.
The thing is one of the best light gathering scopes for dusk and dawn I have ever seen.

good to know. I figured I was better with the Kahles than a leupold but like I said I don't know much about it. I just couldn't see spending the money for the swaro again. The scope was cheap as well which was nice. I got it from a place in Texas and I think it ended up costing $815 U.S which I thought was a steal for a brand new one with the multizero system.

Optically, the Kahles Helia is a superior scope to the VX-III. Some think the Helia is better than the Swarovski AV as well.

As mentioned, Kahles sold out to Swarovski. As a result, Kahles no longer maintains any sort of distributorship, or offers any warranty in North America. For all intents and purposes, Kahles no longer makes scopes, nor exists as a company.
