I just love new builds..........

Sweet rig. Especially with the bolt on the proper side.

For load development it’ll be my Leupold FXII 12x.
For hunting likely a 6x Leupold.

I met Mr. Galloway in Rocky on my way home from work yesterday.
The finished product was beyond fantastic.
I spent last evening adjusting the barrel channel inletting on the stock, and fitted the action to the aluminum bedding block with aid of some Prussian blue.
And voila!

Made it out this morning.
I had thrown some loads together in some virgin Remington brass with H4350, Sierra 150gr. Matchking’s and CCI BR2 primers. Seated the bullets about 6 thou off the lands.
First 2 shots were at 100 to get things close to zero, then I took things to 300 yds.
1, 3 shot group at 44.5gr.
1, 5 shot group at 45gr.
1, 5 shot group at 45.3gr.
All in all I’m fairly happy so far, I’ve got Lapua brass on the way, and then some serious load development will begin, I’m flush with 155gr. Chinchaga’s, for target work, and hope to run 139gr LRX’s for hunting.
Looks to me like this dog just might hunt.

Nice build Dick. Appears it was a tad breezy out there. Look forward to watching the load development progress.
Good to see there are at least of few of us in our right minds on here.

Nice looking build. What do you figure the end weight is gonna be set up for hunting with the 6X leupold?

No figuring since the 6x is 8 ounces lighter than the Nikon 6-18 that it is currently wearing.
The Berkeley fish scale puts the current configuration at spot on 9 pounds.
So with the 6x it should come in at 8 pounds 8 ounces. (No sling, no ammo)

I would ask a question if I might. Why did you choose a 23-1/2" barrel?
Is it an issue of balance with that particular stock or do you just prefer that length?

I just felt like making it that length, you know..... just like how Frank Sinatra sang it “ I did it my way!”

Nice setup!!
Those 139gr LRX will absolutely sing seated in Lapua brass over a healthy dose of Varget!!

Made it out for the second time with the new rig.
I loaded up the new Lapua brass, as well as the once fired R-P brass I used on the last outing.
H4350
Varget
H4895
Was used in the loads.
I seated the bullets another 5 thou deeper too.
This group stood out.

Why did you aim so low Dick?......
Nice shooting. I love that cartridge, and it looks like your rifle is going to be outstanding!
