Glassed up a Roadie today. About 250 yards from where i glassed up two a couple years ago. Change of ownership on the property so I got to meet the new owners and was granted shed/hunting permission. Had shed access for years but I’ve never been able to hunt it. Very positive outing.

Nice Shed, Does anyone know why Coyotes mark them like this. I have found the same if its in deeper snow.

This guy was the first whitetail shed of the season. It looks like it's from last year but it's THICK!

Nice looking sheds everyone! How deep is the snow in the bush in central AB? Hoping to get out for the first outing of the year tomorrow.

The wife spotted this moose antler when we were driving home from the lake yesterday. First moose antler we ever found!

Any tips on bleaching it?

Not a shed but he was happy to find it. Carried it all the way back to yard. 1.5 miles.

Are they just dropping now in southern Alberta or is it that they are just visible now that the snow has mostly melted? I've been out to some sure areas throughout March and haven't found any.

My Opinion would be to stain it and Not Bleaching/Whitening it. Theres a few options with stains.

I was out a few times in the first couple weekends of March (Taber area), snow was gone and tons of deer sign but no antlers. Found one set but they had clearly been there a while.

Might try again this week if I can find time.

LKILR , Thats so awesome you are shed hunting on a Horse. I have always wanted to do that.
I have never used anything motorized either shed Hunting, I enjoy the exercise on foot. The cheapest Spring membership you can buy.

Lazy mans way lol

The horse gives a huge advantage
Can do 15 miles easily
And the height make easier spotting
You want to give it a try?
I’m south of Calgary

Going out to the farm where my cams are and pick them up tomorrow. Hoping to find some sheds as well as there are moose and WT on the cams. First time hunting the property last Nov and the cams were up since late Aug. There was a nice range of bucks and bulls on the cams. Hoping some bruiser of a buck showed up on cam since Dec or find a big shed.

Was out getting my trail cams & tooling around the property on the weekend when I spotted this guys skeleton in some bush(walked & quadded by it many times and the grass hid it well). I suspect he has been there for a couple seasons seeing he is so white. Too bad as I think he was an up an comer. I would almost bet I have his off spring on cam, very similar antlers on a buck I seen on cam and in person, just not so tall yet.

Any tips on finding moose antlers? I've found a few over the years, but it's pretty rare. North of Edmonton, farmland, fringe forest.

Default shed hunting

shed hunting from a horse is the only way to do it.. as said the height advantage is great, and you sure can cover the miles
