Default meat only

Hi , l would be interested in buying a side of beef from a rancher on here , but l don't want to pay for guts , bones , hide ,hoofs and other parts that are garbage , l just want the edible meat , cut and wrapped and frozen for about $2.00 to $3.00 a pound , l know most of you sell on the hoof for around $4.50 a pound ,but if l pay that much , then l,m paying for the bones guts hide and hoofs ,and extra for butchering.
So at at $2.00 a pound for just the edible cuts say 200 lbs =$400.00 ,would that be possible , if l bought at the super store l think it would be at that price.

Looks like one of them GRE questions for village idiots. Not sure what you were trying to say, but it didn't sound right anyway.
The reason you have no replies is- it's a family forum.

The way it reads is you want to pay less money for the rancher putting in more legwork deboning, gutting butchering and whatever else there is which makes no sense for the rancher. The basic idea is buying a live cow and butchering and processing it your self is the cheapest option. Anything you ask for after that drives the final price upwards. So if you get a deboned butchered and gutted cow it would cost more because of the added work wages im not sure if i read this right so feel free to comment.

Default pricing

The price you want to pay is unrealistic, that's why you aren't getting any takers. The current market price on sides of beef (Canfax conversion) is in the neighborhood of 2.67/lb, based on the hanging weight. Your take-home is 60% of that weight after butchering, and the cost is "plus" butchering, unless you want to buy a side and cut it yourself.

I think you better just stick to your Superstore.

Default Here's a solution

Go to your favorite restaurant and tell them you'll give them $3/lb for their leftover table scraps.

You are either extremely naive or trolling, your request is so far off base it's laughable. Ground beef is about $8/lb, butchers charge about $1-$1.50 a pound to cut and wrap.

This dreamer should raise and finish a couple of steers and see how it pencils out for him. Maybe then he would adjust his offer to purchase price. Or I should ask the neighbor what he wants for that bad bagged, lump jawed, cancer eyed 8 year old cow that he cant get loaded on the stock trailer, she could go cheap. D.H.

Humm,,, all of the cattle I've raised have had had bones guts hide and hoofs. I havn't seen many sides of beef walking around without being butchered first. Perhaps you should buy a calf and raise it to see what the costs of land, care , vet bills and feed are.

Hilarious post....

Surprised no one has jumped at the opportunity to sell a side of beef for pennies on market price.

Best off going to a local butcher and purchasing out of his counter....cut and wrapped. Lots of work goes into putting that meat into a counter, that's worth something.

Last I checked, about $ 4.00 to $ 5.00 per pound maybe more now.
