Thumbs up Brag, Brag Dangerous Dakota's Back to Back

Hey Gang but I just got the news that our little Dangerous Dakota won his second first place Derby stakes finish in as many weeks and we are just flat out proud of the little guy. I guess he loves Derby but thats over as he has all the derby points required for his FC. He will run 2 more Puppy Stakes in an attempt to get a point or two there and then well that proves how little I know cause I don't know what's next except he's comming home to be with his family and do his summer show stuff. His trainer says Dakota just loves the trials but I think if Dakota thinks he's hunting he's happy!

Get him home in time and you can run some Derby and Puppy here in Alberta - get some points towards his Canadian FTCH.

Congrats.

I want to try and do some, like I said; lots to learn and limited contacts so if I could have some help from Guys like you and Puphood I would be thankful and appreciative. I talked briefly with one breeder quite promenent in the FT sport but not exactly the type that encourages a person to get involved kind gun shy after the encounter Give me some dates clubs contacts I know I can learn lots from you guys.

Nice stuff Donny Bear!! Your little hound is gonna come home all ribs and nutz! Should be lots of fun to get him on some birds this fall. My brittany, Tater, is loving the spring now that it seems to be here, got her out and ran her on some late winter wildies, she had a blast. Cant wait to run her again. Take care.

Congratulations, good job with your dog and you have every right to be proud.

The other stuff is just DS (dog s**t) -- lots of it in the dog world. It does not matter if it is show, obedience, hunt tests or NAHRA -- just ignore it and look for the good people. There are more good ones than bad ones in the dog games and you can have a ton of fun without the "ego" stuff.

Default derby win

Great.
Don't know when you are getting the guy back but regardless there are two CKC/AFTCA field trials in the first 2 weekends in May one north of Calgary the other west of Calgary.
I would suggest that if you want to get started in Trials this would be a very good spot to do so even if you don't have the dog back just go see what is going on and see if you can ride some of the braces (don't know if they have horses for rent anymore). Get a feel for what is expected and a good look at the grounds as these are single coares that they go over multi times and conditions don't much change from one brace to the other. On single planted coarse trials in particular it is important to know them physically if you want to compete and they will not change much season after season. There are usually lots of Britt owners so you should have lots to talk about. More info can be had on the Region 14 AFTCA web site as the info is there and contact numbers have fun....puphood1

If you aren't doing anything this afternoon you can head just north of Cochrane. The Amateur is running this morning and the Puppy will follow. My pup is there but I'm not.

Next weekend they are running south of Beiseker and the weekend after that they are just south of Cochrane. Then there is a weekend off from trials when the Calgary club will run their hunt tests. The last weekend of May the dogs will be running at Buck Lake southwest of Edmonton.

Come out and watch, meet some folks, have some fun. Potluck supper on Sat. night at most trials.

The cost of wranglers got too high so there are usually no horses to rent at the trials anymore. Check the http://www.region14aftca.com if you want information on when the AFTCA trials in Sask. are running (Montana trials are finished for this spring I think)

Default Thanks Guys

Well I have reading to do and planning I fly to Toronto on the 15th of May and Travel with Maverick Brittany AO to New York to Field Trials with His male and Dakota and Dakotas Daddy Jayhawkers Hunters Heart Jeb from the Trials I bring Dakota home on the 19th with his winnings and then the end of the month 1 of june we hit the CKC show ring in Edmonton to start that journey in between we will try to find Trials that work but will focus on training. I am not planning on any hunt tests til he has a FC designation on one side of the border high hopes maybe but his Back to Back in the Derby stakes have made it seem very possible. I will try to get out next weekend and start meeting some people.
