Default Questions about Sherwood Park Centennial Park

We just returned from girl's softball Provincials at Centennial Park (great venue and hosting committee). I was told that Centennial Park has been sold to a developer and the 9 diamonds and park will be dismantled this fall. Is this accurate?

Second question; what was the rank smell that blew in on Friday? It was bearable for ball, but I wouldn't want to live with that.

It is correct that it is going to be dismantled unfortunatly.
The smell likely blew in from coop feed’s, it’s rotting flesh. They turn roadkill and wasted animals into pet food. It stinks up the northern part of sherwood Park. You can smell it most days if the wind is right for your location and if your on the north side of the yellowhead it can turn your stomach.

Will the diamonds be rebuilt somewhere? I find it very discouraging that the diamonds may be moved out of town where kids can't walk to them.

I was just up there for 3 weeks. Thought the smell was just the Oilers.

That Sucks! We also played there for Provincials and have played there for the last few years for tournaments. I sure hope they re-locate them to another place as they were really nice diamonds. Yeah that smell was something else too. The hotel we stayed in even had the smell lingering in the lobby and halls.
