How would they determine who is a qualified applicant?

They say if you purchased one of the products listed you qualify but there must be more to it then that. Otherwise people could make a claim even if they had not actually purchased any of the products, and/or they could claim more products then they purchased, to reach the maximum payment.

I'm guessing they will require receipts and I never keep receipts past five years.

So I doubt I and good many others would not qualify.

I wonder how they are going to verify .I have just counted 10 in a quick look if I look harder I would guess 15 activation stickers/numbers from windows xp and 7 or do they want receipt's?I worked for a computer repair place for several of those years and built a crap ton for myself ,even built a simulated pinball/arcade machine .I wonder if I could also dig up our volume license

I put in for a whopping $68 claim. But I wont find out until 2022 if its being accepted. Hopefully they dont want proof of purchase because most of those computers are long gone.

Another example of how big business has abused their powers for many years. The corporate world is not our friend and the power they have is increasing during Covid.

To be clear...this is to sign up for the class action lawsuit. Microsoft has stated they did nothing wrong...it will be up to the courts to decide. A little research has shown that their is not much likelihood of this ever coming to fruition.

According to this it has been settled, same place where the lawnmower suit came from and they claimed they did no wrong. I'll be filing over the holidays as we have bought 8 plus computers over this timeframe.

You’re right. On Dec 15 Microsoft did finally agree to the settlement...I’d been following this a month ago at which point they were still saying they would appeal the decision.
My bad.

I just deposited my $47 check. I knew keeping receipts digitally would pay off some day....

That's a smart idea, something I need to start doing. I always save receipts, but most are badly faded within a year. There's a class action settlement for optical disc drives right now that would have netted me $170 if I had documentation, but instead I'm settling for the max $20 payout for an undocumented claim.

I got $68 from them. They never asked for any proof of purchase.
