Default My last day hunting 118 for mule deer buck

Yesterday, I was hunting in a different zone and could easily have shot a dozen mule deer bucks. My son got a cranker in yet another zone.

I would say that I personally have never seen such a fine looking zone so devoid of deer from the over kill, I suppose, because of CWD. That is just my opinion and hopefully all of the other hunters found coulees full of big juicy bucks and do not know what I am even talking about.

I did see five mulies far far away on Friday and they were all running. I could not understand it as there were no hunters in the area. Eventually I spotted, in rough country, an antelope being chased by a coyote.

Within two hundred yards the coyote pulled down and killed the antelope.

Ernest Thompson Seton long ago wrote that all wild animals die tragically. One more example.

I look at hunting like fishing a journey...getting your limit or tagging out into my main objective.....congrats to,your son on getting a beauty...pics?

Sure some amazing country to put the miles on all day hikes there, too bad about the numbers being down. Sure were some stomper antelope running around out there this fall though!

We spent a week in 102 118 for antelope. We didn't see too many mulie bucks but we did see a few (maybe only 1 per day). I will send you a pm.

I spent the second and third week down there we filled all out tags with good respectable bucks but there was nothing close to the roads once you get a mile plus off roads they were there

That's what I love about WMU 118 - foot access only! There's no oil/gas well heads or lease roads, so no trucks cruising around either. Walk a km off the public roads, and chances are, you'll be all by yourself.

Default I want to hunt 118

I want to hunt 118 soooo bad. It looks like it's about 80% grazing leases.

I spent 5 days in 118 at the end of bow season. It was a great hunt with over 50km put on the boots. While I did see some Mule deer, numbers were way down and the best buck I saw may have gone 160. I chose not to fill my tag.
