Dry out there.

Banning certain opinions would be just as bad, or perhaps worse, than banning certain firearms.

I suspect this thread came about because of a comment I saw the other day on here regarding "assault rifles" (go ahead ban em .who needs em unless you are military or something like that) . Some took offence to that comment but I don't see it as anti gun , just a opinion on a certain type of gun. I can see where they are coming from since it seems that most hatred and confusion from the anti gun community stems from misinformation and or misuse of these particular firearms. Some might feel (rightly or wrongly) that if that firearm were not a part of the equation ,people might be less inclined to jump on the anti wagon. (highly unlikely but I suppose it's possible) . Myself I have never been a fan of semi auto firearms although I just recently finally got a semi shotgun due to issues with my elbow and a pump action.
Anyhow not being supportive of a particular firearm platform doesn't make you anti gun anymore than being straight makes you anti gay.
Banning people for differing opinions whether guns, politics or religion is a slippery slope and would likely spell the end of this forum in the long run. Mind you people get banned (disappear) from here all the time and mostly, nobody notices /cares or knows why usually.

Let’s ban people using 99 cent pickerel rigs in sturgeon waters too.

Ban anyone that doesn't like Savage rifles. They are anti gun and we don't need them in the outdoorsmen community!

The irony, let’s ban people who want certain items banned.

Hello pot, please meet kettle.

I have stated previously on numerous occasions that I feel Canada has a pretty reasonable set of gun laws currently. Does that mean I am anti-gun? My gunsafe and outdoor puruits would not support that assertion.

This is an outdoors forum, thus there needs to be room for legitimate members to voice their opinions. Echo chambers are blah. Informed banter or vigorous debate is good. At one point in time I wouldn't have cared much if all "black guns" were deemed illegal. After reading others' views, and thoughtful discussion with forum friends, I changed my mind, realizing that slippery slopes will always be slippery. I even have some guns in the basement that I never thought would be in my house. Why? Tastes change and so do ideas and opinions.

Don't take away dissenting views. If we all agreed then this would be nothing more than a 70K member circle jerk club.

If posts are problematic then hit the little red triangle and tell the mods your thoughts.

....'a 70K member circle jerk club'....??

sometimes the things you say are almost poetic! Haha, classic AO. That needs to end up in somebody's signature line. I could see Recon Willy using that, respectfully. It just has the right tone.

if it ever came to something that stupid, you would have 2 types in here, responsible gun owners who are pro-firearms and liars.

I own firearms. My wife takes them when I pass, and my kids will get what they want.
I am not anti firearms, but I am not pro with regards to every weapon.
I am no longer 100% against open carry in Canada, but am not far off that #.

My problem is not firearms, it is irresponsible mall ninja idiot owners.

Does that make me someone that should be banned?

I have never seen a Gestapo thread on here before.

You absolutely should be banned Ken, but for entirely different reasons than your opinion on guns.....

For $50 I won't out you though.

I don't see those who support bans helping or of being a benefit to those of us that support firearm ownership.

That’s a hard no!

I say ban people who:

Are against owning guns

Are against walleye retention

Are in favor of having moose in my zone on draw for archery

Like Remington rifles

Like Barnes bullets for Hunting

Shoot bigger bucks than me

Like St Croix better than G Loomis

Choose Crestliner over Lund

Shoot Elite bows

Like Ford better than Toyota

Like Honda better than Yamaha

Don’t love Creedmoors

Think you need a magnum rifle to kill bears

Support NDP’s

Support Liberals

Once we take care of those guys we can work on phase two.

We should purge this place and it can go back to the good old days of slinger, sheephunter, rockymtx, brownbear416, ISB, Steve, pickerel Pat, ABducknut, Chet, alpineguy, many more I can’t think of right now. Pics posted every day and healthy conversations and information sharing.

If we ban people who differ in opinion, how do we get the chance to make an intelligent argument for our side?

Preaching to the Choir sux

I say we prohibit using statistics in arguments. They are always inaccurate, both for and against, and you can make a statistic sound more impressive than it really is.......

It's like bragging that it's 10 CENTIMETERS LONG! (when really, it's 4" dude, settle down)

I was referring to people that want ALL guns banned. Not one item or another or against certain laws. I was referring to people that would have no business on the site but to stir up #%#%. The people we call Trolls. Should trolls be allowed to stay?

Well that would be one way to cull the herd on here considering the high percentage of Threads that are troll threads (started for the sole purpose of stirring the pot) and troll posts (stated for the sole purpose of stirring the pot )

The Oilers /Flames threads are all troll all the time

When is " what gun should I get for deer a 308 or a 30 06 " a troll thread , the first time it's posted or the 666th time?
