Default case trim length ??

HI
I have a friend who brought me some once fired brass. just de-primed it all and measured it
Its 270 case and my manual shows trim to 2.540
Well his is 2.525 which is out more than i think is safe to reload.
I usually trim the 270 to 2.535

So your thoughts whether to scrap it or is it still safe to load?
So if you have been loading for decades (lol) let me know what you's think

Thanks

Load them ,they'll be fine. Hodgdon manual shows trim length for .270 Win. at 2.53",they'll grow after a couple more firings.
Too long is where you may run into problems.

I have purchased new cases that were .010" under the suggested trim length, I don't worry about it. I just get a few more firings before trimming.

Why wouldn't it be safe? We're talking .005" shorter than recommended trim length which is usually .010" below max case length.

In the 45-70 the Hornady brass for the 325gr FTX bullets are 0.60" shorter than standard brass.

That would be .015" from the MAXIMUM case length. .005" from trim length is nothing. If you were .015" over maximum case length that could be a different story.

If your manual is showing trim length as 2.540" I would think it's in error.

What is your basis for it to seem like a lot to you? Why do you think it wouldn't be safe? What's the issue?
