Sounds like your unlucky day. "Public safety"?! Nice to see our tax dollars so well wasted. They aren't called Village Idiots for no good reason...are they?
Like with all the idiotic by-laws, take the fine. How long will the guy have to harrass you to equal 6700 some odd dollars? The City of Calgary is Lilliputian in these regards.
I've long said, Calgary does not have streets. It has asphalt collection trays.

I want to know how a by-law officer was able to catch you in the act. Were you parked there for 2-3 weeks?

Another birdie thinks it was the competition that called in tree.
Great way to make more money is to put the other guy on the sidelines for a while.

Wearing all 5 cones on your head would have attracted even the most distracted bylaw officer. Dude, those things are not hats for you and your crew.

Ok, Who has five orange cones I can borrow? Or a description of Tree's outfit.
Bored By-law seems too busy to get to my part of town.
Tree, do you know the By-law# regarding these permits?

Your perception of me is a bit off.........this one is a little closer.......hope this will clears things up.
Attachment 32366
But I did have a picture in mind when I read your first post....as I am sure this was how your day went after the reaction to the bylaw

And on the beer thing, as long as your doing your thing supporting those projects I guess there is no option but for me to pay for the beer.......but we won't take your truck ....and have to pay the street use permit afterwards.
And why no pictures of your house guest????????...you have our attention now.

I just love the attitude of these guys that are telling you to add another $25 per day to each job. From what I have read so far it sounds like you already have a tough enough time getting work. I know as well as you that tacking on another fee isnt going to help that. I feel your pain, we get hammered non stop with all these stupid rules and laws in our line of work. I think that the only thing a guy can do is either find a way around this or pay up. Its not fair.
Oh, and to the fellow that made the comment about how nice it would be to have another $6,000.00 write off... Get your wallet out, cause if you really want another write off they sure arent hard to find. I bet that Tree isnt feeling the same way. I would be willing to bet that he feels like the rest of us and would prefer to have another 6,000 in the bank account to pay wages, fuel and bills.
What about if each day you were working in the city you made a crank call to the bylaw patrol telling them that there is bunch of double parked cars in the other end of the city? It might keep them away long enough to get the job done and bug out.

Don't turn your laptop on, or answer your Blackberry, on the bus.
