Default Garage Door Repair - Update

Looking for someone in Calgary to (possibly) repair a garage door. Anyone on here do that sort of thing or have a contact.

Older Stanley Door (late 60's early '70's) bushings are worn out. Would prefer to repair as opposed to replace if possible, but don't think parts are available unless someone knows where used parts can be found...

Please PM with contact info.

Thanks in advance,

Peter

So I have learned that the door is obsolete and VERY dangerous with the double springs & bushings wearing out (lots of shrapnel if they blow) so unfortunately it needs to be replaced...

I guess a new door runs between $1200 - $1500 +...

I recall having had a busted spring on a door at a rental place many moons ago. I had either Calgary Overhead Door or Stampede Door fix it, I can't recall which. I needed my motorcycle out of there, and pronto! Nothing like good riding weather and a Yamaha being held hostage.

Call "Ultra-Lite Door." You won't be sorry.

Got a line on a slightly hail damaged door - insurance replacement (which isn't a big concern as the garage is in the ally). $800 installed... I'll do a bit more digging...

Ok so heres the situation... Since having the new door installed on Monday, the overhead light is no longer working (I have a Craftsman Model 139.18054 Garage Door Opener). Up until Monday the light has been working since it was (professionally) installed 7 or so years ago. The installer said they did not do any thing to the unit except attach new safety sensors and wires... Now the light does not go on when the door opens or closes, nor when the sensor is tripped as it once did. The new sensors are working properly... The only thing the installer says is that b/c this is an "older unit" this can happen... Do you think they inadvertently blew a circuit on the circuit board or is there an internal light switch or something that was inadvertently deactivated to cause the light not to work any more? Oh and for the record, I have changed the bulb with one that I made sure was working... Still nothing...

Can anyone offer any advise (other then buying a new unit, or just living with it, etc.)

Peter

To further update this situation, I'm going to try and get some original (stock) sensors, as the ones the installer has used are not stock... I think that this may be where the problem lies...

Harry,

Located in NW Calgary.

Yes the light won't go on (new - working bulb)... Up until the new door was installed, it was working!

Board can't be fried as everything else works! As I mentioned, the only thing the guy did was install a new door and replace the sensors (not sure why) with non craftsman ones... So that's where I'll start with stock parts (I can always take them back if Sears has them in stock as opposed to special ordering them)

Better stock some away. Would hate to see the headache you will have when all that remains on the market is CFL's

Damn things don't work well in the cold either. How come it worked before?

Was using a standard bulb. Then when they put in the new door they must of broke it or it burnt out, so I replace it with a CFL as it was the only one I had in the house...
