Prime minister proposes citizen's arrest bill

Prime Minister Stephen Harper laid out a proposal on Thursday that would offer more legal protection for people who make citizen's arrests.

Harper said the proposed legislation offers "much more clarity" in the criminal code for citizens involved in cases of self-defence and in the defence of property.

Harper is one of few politicians I like and respect.

But like a intelectually bankrupt scumbag politicians the libs and ndp whine about it even when the govt is doing the right thing......couldn't just keep their mouths shut....noooooooo.......critize regardless of the benefits.

We need to read the actual legislation. I'll bet dollars to donuts it doesn't ease restrictions anywhere near what we hope. It will be a little tweak, to deal with something like then Chen case. You still won't be able to defend property and I bet you still have a duty to retreat.

It looks like they are doing something, which is a step in the right direction.
