Default Old muscle cars rule

Finally got the car out on Saturday. '71 Vette (and yes my penis is of adequate size). First time on the throttle was about 3 seconds zero to oh sh.. I almost forgot how much fun an old tech, carburated m/c was.

Looks stk on the outside (not quite stk inside..) and it's a pain for me to post pics Anyway 454 40 over , yadda, yadda

Anyway post your pics. Were due for some new ones here...and yes Reeves, we could even use some new Pinto pics.....

There is an undeniable sense of freedom and possibility when you open up a late 60's, early 70's muscle car.
Mine was a poor boy 69 Buick GS 400 purchased with a $400 income tax refund in 1976
650 Holley Double pumper-Cragar SS mags
Oh what a feeling.
About $1 per smile

Had a 73 Maverick as my first car, bought it at a police auction for $166.00. Total sleeper, 351Cleveland, four speed slap stick, ran like the wind. Should have kept it. To bad I could not afford the fuel to deliver pizzas in it.

I learned how to drive in this car when I was 15.

1987 Buick Regal Turbo T.

Too much work done to the engine to list.

It runs 13.5s in the 1/4

Sadly, motor is 2 months late.....still at the builders in Edmonton.
With other work to do on it, may not get to drive it this year.
Need custom headers built after I get the engine back.
Partly my fault as well.
What started out as a simple engine & trans swap, has turned into a ground up re-build.
Complete new brake lines & re-routed.
Complete new fuel system , tank to front.
Had some rust started on the inside floor pan where feet rest, both sides.
POR 15 that area, paint the rest. All new sound deadener.
Inside is done, except the attachment points for the 5 point harness.
Worked the whole wiring over....done except need the engine to finish it.
Still have to get the swing arm bushings pressed out & the new ones pressed in - then blast & paint them.
I have a new Wilwood brake & 5 bolt hub kit to put on. Bigger rotors. Double piston calipers.
All new steering parts, including the rack.
All new suspension parts as well.
In the second picture you can see where the main harness came out the fire wall. Moved that up & over to get it away from the back on the head.

Shifter hole had to be customized for the V Gate shifter by Long Shifters.
It'll be nice with this inline shifter !

Custom built motor & mid mounts done.

Restored the from factory unpainted parts.
Rebuilt heater with new core.

Although the custom made parts took some head scratching & work , the hardest job (for me) was installing the new sound deadener.
It's self adhesive. Bottom is a tar like stuff that sticks like it's welded.
Top is an aluminum.

Thanks....I think ? LOL !

Long way to go yet.
Still have to get the diff sorted - floated & wheely bars.

Then the body work , which includes opening the rear wheel wells at the bottom front & back , for the 29 x 18.50 x 15s that will all go under the fenders.
Has big tubs !

2012 F-350
Have owned no cars since about 81 ?
I'm a truck guy.

Back in the 70s I built a 72 Pinto & fitted a B2 engine & top loader etc.
Needed a daily driver in a hurry, so dropped a 302w & auto into it.

Times / life changes happened & I sold all I had while in Ont.
Moved to BC.

Always told myself I'd do the B2 into a Pinto "one day" again.

Doing it now.

My first car was a 72 V8 Pinto. Rear ended & didn't blow up !

My second car was a V8 Pinto.......Both built by me.
Don't let the tail lights fool you.....it's not a Bobcat.
Body shop thought it would be "funny" to install an extra set of tail lights to "help" prevent another rear end crash

Third car was one of these : https://www.google.ca/search?q=mercu...w=1280&bih=929

4th was , sadly to say , was a Camaro. Forget the year of it. Not sure on the engine ..... maybe 327 ?
Rust bucket. One rear frame rail so rusty a 2x4 was holding a rear shackle from going into the trunk !
Guy in BC bought it from me in 82 & promptly put it into a logged off area on a corner. I told him about the rust problems , still paid 1k for it anyway

Of all the cars I've had , the one I liked the best was the Merc. Had some great times in that boat !
429 that was so well balanced (engine) that there was no movement with the engine.
Drive 70 - 80 MPH all day long @ 21 MPG.
The rest was big time rusty.....Ont cars don't last long.

The interior door release handles bring back some memories of our family 74 Bobcat. First Manitoba winter they both snapped off. Dad reacted quickly cutting short end pieces of my broken Victoriaville hockey sticks off complete with black hockey tape on the butt ends- drilled them out like a short sleeve and fastened with set screws.
The car lived out the rest of it's life with those wooden door release handles.

Not mine, but my son in law's who got in on Father's Day (not as a gift).

Sweet 1952 Mercury F100 completely redone. Original 90HP V8 in it, 3 on the floor.

Nice iron there, Last summer my lovely wife and I went out to buy crab traps, guess what followed us home, a '75 El Camino. My wife made me get the crab traps as well, she said "you cant catch crabs in an El Camino" I just smiled and said "I wouldn't bet on that" It's an Arazona car not a spot of rust anywhere. Working on it slowly. last year it was a B&M shifter and Mags. This year I'm tricking the 400 SB a bit

Yip no black boxes and computors to crap out and leave you stranded, no computer required to even find a problem, no waiting in line at the Caddilac dealership for service, even though you had an appointment, no 1200.00 for headlight replacement....yip terrible times........Plus handling is quite adequate for speeds up to and over any posted speed limits....well over...and usually not very many cheap plastic parts...well except the whole body, if you consider fibreglass plastic.
