Wasn't expecting much this season and it's going as I expected. I would say it's early and new coach and new system, but I see no signs of improvement, one game to the next. Other than Zad I really don't have any ties to these players. When I hear lindholm want's a pay day I have to laugh. For what?? I hardly notice him. I heard today Huberdeau hasn't had a point in 6 games. I know he wasn't doing great but frick that even worse. Kadri again looks like he could care less if he's here or even playing period. He had a fight a few games ago even that looked less than inspired. Upside, Markstrom has improved over last year, but won't win if we can't score.
Hearing ticket sales are dropping, and good. That's about the only thing that will grab managements attention.
Blow it up as we have gone from being bad to being embarrassing.
Anyways. On to the next one

Flames need to do a rebuild.

Trade Hanifin, Lindholm, Backlund and Coleman. Get some picks and keep the youth, they seem to be promising.

We've lost to the 25th place Blue Jackets, 27th place Blues, 28th place Penguins, and 30th place Oilers.

We're actually playing a good team tonight, should be a bloodbath!

Default Draft picks?

It looks like the team is playing for a very high pick this year. However it hasn't helped Edmonton. Who is making the picks?

Not Flames related but some big happenings in the NHL today:

-NHL announced that Ottawa will lose a 1st round pick as punishment for the Dadonov trade debacle that happened between Vegas and Anaheim in March 2022. Seeing he wasn't actually traded, and just said "No, I'm not going", that seems like a pretty harsh punishment. Also seemed to take a really long time, year and a half?!?;

-As a result of losing a 1st round pick, the Senators have fired Pierre Dorion; and,

-Nicklas Backstrom and his 1,033 pts in 1,105 games, is stepping away from the Capitals/NHL for health reasons.

Kinda sucks for Andlauer, buys the team, and within months has a high end prospect suspended for 41 games, loses a 1st round pick, and fires the GM.

You didn't take enough out of them, they leave Alberta with 4 points

Soilers are 2-6-1.

Lames are 2-7-1.

I told Trochu yesterday that Sam Gagne was going to put up more points then Huberdeau and Kadri combined for 5% of the cost, and he scores 2 his first game back. It's all about playing with heart, Sammy has always had it, maybe more then the entire Flames or Oilers bench.

Painful.

Heard a funny on the radio today:

Who says no, Columbus or Flames, Gaudreau for Huberdeau?

I'm guessing Johnny would.

The only sign I like, is that Kadri looked pretty not bad last game. 2 assists, was all over the ice. Best player for the Flames. Hopefully he can keep it going.

I don't think I've seen an NHL team as bad as San Jose in my life. Outscored 18-2 in the last two games, winless in 11, and have a -43 goal differential in 11 games. Almost 15% through the season and they are on pace for 8 pts.

It will get reviewed, and he will probably get 2-4 games for it. It's completely out of character for him, no idea why he did it, but your outrage is kinda overblown. There was no injury.

Anyway, 2 points, yay I guess.

Hate to say it but the flamers looked pretty good last night, Magniapane well that was flat out dumb but he'll get a few games to think about it as well he should, crap happens when you do dumb stuff, the Oilers on the other hand looked flat again for the 8th time this year, they have only played 2 games where they looked like a hockey team

Sure glad I have my grandson to watch with the Timmins Rock of the NOJHL they are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games and sit in 1st place in the Eastern division since he was traded there from the Camrose Kodiaks 9 games ago he has put up 15 points 11 goals 4 assists, the kid is rolling as are the Rock

Mangiapane gets a one game suspension for his cross check on McCann. He got off light, but again, no history of dirty play. I expect it was anomalous and would be surprised to see a recurrence.

One game would be about right.

IMO
Cross check to the neck area? yes
Intentional cross check to the neck area? no

I'm shocked they won.

I find it amusing though, Johnny and Huberdeau both benched.

I was quite pleased to see Huberdeau writhing on the bench the 3rd period, while Zary and Pospisil went out and played some real hockey. Next game, I'd give him the 1st period to show some effort for that $10.5M he is getting, and if he keeps playing pond hockey, bench him for *2* periods!!

All right new day, lets see if the boys can pull it together. I know everyone is all over Huberdeau and lack of production, but I will say I think he is trying. How Lindholm keeps getting a pass is beyond me. Guy wants a raise and be a 9Mill player but I look at his stats for the last bunch of games and I see a lot of 0's when it comes to production. Yeah tied for points but for that $$ the guy should be a standout, IMO.
Anyways be nice to start the week with a couple points. Go Flames.
