Default Gun Collection - Disposal

A friend is looking for the best return / hassle free method of selling 40 - 50 firearms ... owner is suffering poor health. Prefer Calgary area. Suggestions.

Auction, but no guaranteed prices and figure on giving up a third of the sold value. Always figured that was a rip off.

Post the list in the EE with reasonable prices for pickup only and they will go fast.

Dale is great to work with, and his fees are very minimal. Less than half of what the auction route would charge you.

X2 for Shooters Choice.

Agreed, but even quicker if he was willing to ship. Although finding boxes and actually shipping them would be a bit of a hassle.

He could sell them pretty cheap and still make more money than selling them to a gunshop.

I figured pickup is easier for the seller than shipping.

When we cleaned up my dad's estate, most of the firearms were sold without any advertising. We had everything appraised by a local gunsmith friend of my dad's, and his prices were bang on for almost everything, next to no haggling. Having a good idea what my dad paid originally for a lot of his stuff, I know there was a decent return on investment. Some folks were a little upset that they missed out on some of the firearms, but they didn't want to approach us to soon after his death, while others kindly dropped of a note of interest. It may also depend on quality of items you are trying to get rid of.

We've been handling large consignments and estate sales at MilArm routinely since 1963. I would love the opportunity to work with you on this, should the need arise. Shoot me a PM if you are interested!

If you are happy with getting 50 cent dollars on these guns, selling to a dealer is the easiest way to go.

X2 plus if he sells on here he gets all the profit, cgn is obviously a broader audience, I know a lot of people who'd be willing to travel to cowtown for the right gun, myself included.
