Default Looking for outfitter/guide

Howdy. Looking for a goose hunt for mid Oct around Brooks/Cowtown. OR a mule/white tail in zone 152 for early Nov. Probably 2 Americans and 1 Albertan/Canuck. Any ideas?

If you go on the APOS website you can search an outfitter and species etc.

I don't know any Alberta Guides well enough to recommend one for Deer. Claudio Ongaro runs a pretty good bird operation by all accounts. He does deer too but I don't know anyone who hunted deer with him. Other link is for Jim Schokey's booking service. Might be worth having a look in there.

Good luck with resident hunter and the guided deer hunt...that's gonna be the tougher part of this whole plan. Outfitters only hold non resident allocations

As for an outfitter. Get in touch with APOS and find out who holds allocations in the zones you are interested in. Then get to work on that ringy dingy thingy.

Don't see any reason the resident can't just buy a general WT tag and pay the same guiding fees as the Americans, or am I missing something. Mule he would need enough points to get drawn but he might well have that too.

A resident can hunt with an Outfitter with the resident tag it's just most Outfitters don't want to show the residents where they're hunting

Most outfitters have hang ups with providing their services to residents is why I'm saying it's the biggest challenge the OP will face. I'm not saying it'll be a show stopper, but it'll be a bit of a speed bump me thinks.

I'd like to know why the OP isn't going the hunter host route?

Dick248 as a Alberta outfitter I guide for Alberta resident hunters in the Peace Country every year I take residents out. Most animals you will need to be drawn for them but Whitetail, Elk, Black Bear, and wolves you don't need a draw.

And you are one of the very few that do it!

I think if an outfitter wants to take guys out good on em. I have tried a good number of times. It didn't work well for some. Usually it was a waste of time not worth the money as most residents don't understand the costs related to it and wont pay the price. I had one group of guys start making it a yearly thing to come hunt the same area as well lol
I have donated more hunts as fundraisers than to put money in my own pocket. We usually offered that kids were free with the winning bid and most times got fathers with kids. I got more out of that than money in my pocket.

Nube I have been fortunate that I have not had a client come hunt where I hunt on his own they have all been honourable men this way. Those who do t want to pay the price don't hunt with me it is a business for profit not a charity. We to have donated in excess of $250,000 in hunts over the last 16 years in total Al to wildlife conservation groups. Sad part there is everyone want to go to a SCI, DU, Sheep Foundation auction dinner and get a bargain of a hunt deal, they forget why it is being held in the first place, that is to raise funds for wildlife hunting and fishing these donated trips should start the auction at retail price because it is going to a great cause not a bargain store. Yes we to take kids out I love taking kids and ladies out hunting or fishing.

I've see your outfit donating to many outdoor and conservation groups. Hat's off to you for the donations and time spent putting on the hunts and help raise loot for some very worthwhile outdoor groups.

In fact I bought one of yours and never did use it.

I haven't seen Dean and Phil's Outdoor Adventures at SCI, AHEIA or Sheep Foundation but they must have donated to some of the other outdoor groups.

13mileranch thanks for the kind words I appreciate this. Thanks for buying one of our donated hunts to raise funds for a worthwhile cause, I wish that you would have come hunting with us.

I just may do that in the future. You run a top drawer outfit from what I've seen and heard.

That Lodge in NWT looks like some fantastic fishing!

And you won't see any of my hunts there very often. I don't do big game but have donated a few times to Drayton chapter.
