Where did Gitrdun disappear to?
Yvan hasn't posted in a while. What happened? We used to chat regularly, but I misplaced his email.

His profile only shows suspended so unless something has changed he's not banned. Just on a time out. He's a good guy and I'd hate to see him banned.

I like that guy. He usually had quality info to add and I don't ever remember him being obnoxious or a problem of any kind. When you see a lot of the crap that goes on here and nothing happens to the guys posting it, it makes you wonder how the good guys end up being the ones in the penalty box.
Hope he shows back up.

Well this forum sure as heck isn't a democracy and since it is privately owned it doesn't pretend to be. Got to pick the fights. If the other guy has all the ammo, doesn't matter how right you are, you are going to get your ass flamed. Just like the law, right and fair has absolutely nothing to do with the outcome.

Unless you know
Rules are rules and they apply to everyone. Follow the rules and you should have no issues with us. Dean you seem to have a lot to say about the way things are run so feel free to bring all those that cause problems around here that "nothing happens to" to our attention.

Being a Mod is a thankless job that most seem to forget is a volunteer position but I am sorry the statement that rules apply to everyone is just not accurate.
There is a perfect example right now in the hunting section with a former Mod breaching what was announced by a mod as a absolute no go but no one seems to have the desire to want to hold him accountable.
It is a private eneterprise and I get it but please don't say it is equal because truly it is not. Granted we don't see any of the warning or behind closed door stuff buy some of the inconsistencies are quite apparent.
Unfourtinatly the guys who sometimes push the envelope are the guys who have the real word knowledge about hunting and fishing and are passionate about it.
I don't care what somebody's favorite spaghetti sauce is or recomendations for divorce lawyers but to each their own. Let's not lose sight that this an outdoors sight and that some of the guys who are the most passionate are the ones who actually have educated opinions on what most of use consider important. Yes sometime we all need a timeout so the suspensions are sometimes warranted, heck I may get one ( hopefully not) for writing this and if felt warranted so be it.
Just my musing from a guy up at 1:38 in the morning.

On a side note, there are rumours that Gitrdun is riding out his suspension on an acreage cranking out the 60s tunes...

Rules and laws are usually made for 10% percent of any given group. Would be curious to see what the banned or temporarily suspended percentages are from the mods?

I totally agree. Notice how alot of the members that get sent to the sin bin are actual outdoorsmen and contribute to this forum via outdoors related topics and don't treat AO like a friggen Facebook status?
However with that said, there are those here that are placed on a pedestal and the best they can do for an "Outdoors Forum" is rally the troops for the needy, or threads like "Oh my son got a job!! I'm so happy and proud" The mods favour these members unfortunately. Even when a disagreement is kept via PM they run to the mods, copy and paste the private messages and its timeout time. These members belong on an outdoors forum as much as i belong on a forum that is comprised of scientists discussing cancer research. But then maybe there would be a "General" section that would allow me to post on their so i could feel like one of the boys...... LOL
Yvan is a great contributor and outdoorsmen here by the way.......

I guess
Diamond K I am not sure why you think you would get suspended for saying what you said. You are entitled to your opinion and your perceptions. You didn't insult or berate anyone for their opinion or their point of view. Unfortunately, many others on this board who have actual "real life outdoor knowledge" as you mentioned feel their knowledge and opinion is gospel and as such attack others for their opinions. I personally welcome everyones opinions but the minute those individuals start attacking others, their posts are no longer needed and it is time they step away from the computer.
Everyone have a great day but realize that in many cases assumptions are only based on half the story.

Nice idiotic derail.
Yes I help when I can. The only time you are quiet is when others need help.
Yes I am proud my son got a job. It is human nature, and I share with friends.
No there are no pedestals. I neither expect or ask for anything different than anyone else.
No The mods do not favor me I have been suspended.
Do your thing I will do mine, but calling me out like this is petty, ignorant, immature, moronic and typical of a troll. I never expect any less from you.

This thread is starting to get destructive.
Notice how things are nice and quiet on AO these days and greylynx has not been kicked off for being a bad kitty.
I kind of like it this way.

This is EXACTLY what the general discussion forum is for !! And your comments are an obvious attack against Ken and I think he is the type of member, outdoorsman and human being that we all should strive to be ! I would much rather follow his exploits than read stories about some guy who shot a gopher at 300 yards running broadside. He has contributed more to this forum than anyone I can name.

You Point
Tri777 I am still waiting your point, please PM it to me. The fact of the matter is, when you start making personal attacks and throwing out insults you are out of valid facts to support your point so your posts are no longer needed.
In the end people are going to act the way they want and complain when they are held accountable for their actions.
We have all determined where Gitrdun is so this thread has run its course.
