I've been shooting these things for 40 years. I started with a full choke, corn cob for end. I still have it my wife shoots an 870 with a wood stock interchangeable chokes and I shoot my BD present, an 870 synthetic.
If you can get more gun for the money by all means buy it. A used one is sometimes less than $400.
