Have a trip into montana with the family coming up. Is there any issues with crossing the border with archery gear. Things like sight, stabilizer etc. Probably won't pick up a bow but you never know! Any good shops to hit while there?
Just went across last week with a couple bows. Make sure you get a green card for your bow if you bring one from Canada. They'll try an make you pay for it coming back. Had to prove my bows werent brand new. There's big sky archery (Bozeman) and superior archery (billings). Big sky archery has a beautiful shop with great guys.
Been down there about 4 or 5 times this year and never had a problem either down or back up. Canadian customs only seemed to be concerned if it was a bow or a crossbow. Better to setup a Montana shipping account and order anything your interested in online, way cheaper prices and lots of free shipping within the lower 48, imo.
As long as it's a crossbow that is longer than 500 mm, and not designed to be shot with one hand, it is legal in Canada. If it is a crossbow with a scope, then the US have an issue with the scope, as they deem it can be mounted on a firearm, and falls under "must have an export permit" to ship out of the US, clause.
....Or support your local dealer and buy in Alberta.... where most will most likely take that bow from the US if there is issues...
