Default Wedge Pond

The arctic grayling post reminded me of Wedge pond in K country. Has anyone had any luck at Wedge for Grayling? If so what do they seem to hit? I have tried various dry and wet flys that seem to work on other K country ponds for trout but the Grayling have eluded me on the two trips out last year.

Regs: Open all year, Bait ban, and Arctic Grayling limit 0

Also does anyone kmow of any other places around Calgary K ountry that have grayling?

Those Wedge grayling had me scratching my head for awhile, finally got some action on a small beadhead hares ear.Since then I haven't been back to fish Wedge in a couple of years.

As for other lakes you can try Bear and Big Iron ponds.

I've found that they hit small (16 or so) pheasent tail nymphs and chironomid patterns in the spring after ice out. I've had luck using really small orange and white Len Thompson spoons using spinning too. The fishing for me has been better at the south end of the lake, opposite of the parking lot. I think it helps if you have a belly boat for Wedge. Like BlueNorther said, Bear and and Big Iron also have grayling. I've had better luck at Bear myself, but haven't fished either too many times. Ditto the recomendation for a belly boat.

Duster is right about the hike to Bear... it's about .5 km and not very difficult at all. Fishing from shore can be a challenge because of the vegitation (and depending on which way the wind is coming from), so a belly boat is a good thing to haul up.
