5th year in a row with nothing. I pump a lot of money into the province and own a decent amount of land there(I pay a ton of land tax) and once again I'm told what I can/cannot do on my own freaking land. Bravo Sask, bravo....I will purposefully avoid spending any money in Sask but will buy all my farming supplies in ALBERTA!

Are any of you complaining sponsored? I’ve pulled a tag every year I’ve applied.

Nope I am not sponsored, unfortunately, since my mother passed away and my father retired to Alberta. I farm and own land in Sask and I still have uncles/aunts/cousins etc but that does nothing for your app.

Aunts and uncles could sponsor you if they have a HAL #

This is from the website:

If applying for the 'family first' priority pool, each group member must have an immediate family member (grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, brother, sister, child, grandchild, spouse or common law spouse) who is a Saskatchewan resident with a HAL account and has consented to being included on the application. More than one applicant may have the same family sponsor, provided they are an immediate family member of each applicant who has listed that sponsor. The HAL number and date of birth must be entered on the application for each group member's sponsor. Each sponsor must be verified as a Saskatchewan resident.

Default Sask draws

I love the Saskatchewan draw system and how they look after their residents first and foremost and don't let anyone Non-resident hunt anything but bear and whitetail deer. Non resident Canadians still have to draw a tag and I wonder with how strict the rules are how many guys lie to say they have a relative that lives in Sask just to get a draw? mmmm

So i might have the opportunity to hunt in sask next year. I havint even begun to look into it. Is everything on draw or can you get general whitetail tags like here in Alberta? Thanks! ill start researching as well.

I would say zero to non. Who would want to apply and say you are 100% truthful which you have to do and be caught? For both yourself and the person you listed as your relative?......
That would have to be the most stupidest thing a person could do, wow.

If only Alberta would copy Saskatchewan’s draw protocol, I’m sure we wouldn’t have such long draw times. But Alberta is about generating income, not protecting the resource.

I used to work in the oilfield and I know of guys who got off the plane in August that already had draw tags in their pockets for September. Something wrong with the system.

I’ve been drawn again in Saskatchewan, I’ve never not gotten drawn in Saskatchewan for whitetail deer. Priorities are for immediate relatives. I’ve also been keeping an eye on the synopsis and have noticed the number of tags given to Canadian residents is dropping in the zones where large numbers of whitetail are, or maybe it’s the number of just large whitetails! Or it could be pressure from the outfitters. Last year, in 69, there was only 20 draw tags to be had There’s at least 4 outfitters in that zone.

My biggest beef with Alberta and BC is the requirement for a guide or host.

Saskatchewan isn't perfect but you can put your name in the hat for a deer tag and you can buy an OTC bear tag without having to be babysat by a guide or resident.

Does Saskatchewan not have a 14 day quarantine for crossing the border?
