Default .22LR Lever Action

Hello all!!

I am a firm believer that one can never have to many rimfires. With this being said my collection is lacking a lever action... Any good/bad experiences with any of them? the only ones i have shot are a old winchester and a browning.

I have a Ruger 96/22 that hasn't given me any grief. Typical 10/22 accuracy but still fun to shoot.

..I have both, a Winchester and a Browning,....both excellent guns, having very differant charactor,...my personal preferance, Winchester... The Browning is a smoother gun IMHO, and the thow is like 1/2 the distance.....but it doesnt make the mecanical racket the winchester makes on lock up....

I did own a Mossberg Palomino, great little gun.

Now I have a Winchester 225. Unfortunately the trigger housing is cracked so it is no longer functional.

Default Henry Frontier .22LR

I had the Henry w/octagonal bbl and walnut stock, really nice lil .22, smooth Henry action. The only thing I did'nt like was the alloy reciever, the black (paint) finish seemed to chip off.
Other than that, great rifle.

Love my Henry Mare's Leg 22 (cut down version of the basic Henry lever). Amazingly smooth action and great wood for the pricepoint. Unfortunate aluminum receiver, but that's what you get.

I've got the 39D and I love that rifle! shoots better than I'm capable of and loves the cheap ammo. only issue I have with the design is if the takedown screw on the action gets at all rattled loose it will cause the action to jamb.

Model 9422 or the rifle it was designed after, the Marlin model 39 I have my grandpa's you will never find a finer lever action 22. The 39a doesn't even come close to the 39. The 9422 is a better substitute.

I have the Marlin Golden Mountie 39A.
I also had the Marlin 39...

To say one is better than the other, hands down, is very inaccurate IMO.
In fact, if one were not familiar with either the 39 or 39A, I suspect they would have much difficulty in naming any advantages or credits to one over the other. I am of course talking of rifles made in 40's 50's and 60's...not the newer ones, though the newer Marlin 39A's are still better than the closest newer competition.

Aluminum receivers mean buh bye...

My marlin (pictured above) will hold 20 shorts and 16 longs in the tube mag...

it is fun as hell and accurate ...

My 39 is a 1911 / maybe 12 production octagon barrel, it is so sweet. Light and so easy to shoulder. I believe it holds 22 short and 18 long (I'de have to confirm that). It was the first gun I ever shot. It has been through the ringer though fire, flood, and neglect for a few years. I can most certainly tell you that the new 39a is no comparison to the old 39 that I have. I find the new 39a way too bulky and heavy for a 22.
I do agree that the 39a is probably the best out there only because you can't buy a 9422 anymore.

I've got a Browning BL-22 (GR1) that is a great little rifle, trigger is a tad heavy but fun to shoot nevertheless....

BTW Arn, what's with that scope on your lever gun?? (actually, I have one on my Browning too.....)

I bought a 9622 a few years back and its been a great gun for my boys and I

I bought it mainly because I'm lever fan and after shooting Cooeys for so long I'm tired of tube feeders.

I guess I wanted my cake and eat it too (clip and lever in .22lr)

That said, is there a .22 thats not fun to shoot?

There is only one lever action rifle that I would consider buying it is made by Miroku of Japan the Browning BL22.

There is no other lever 22LR rifle that even comes close to the quality of these rifles.

I bought my first one over 35 years ago sold it to a friend a few years ago because I upgraded to a brand new limited edition s/s black/gray laminate Browning BL22...
