All that the ndp stand to gain, is some left wing votes from the liberals. Right now, the ndp have influence, if the conservatives win a majority, they lose all influence.

Agreed. So they have three options:
-Win;
-Be a part of a minority; or,
-Sit around and do nothing but collect big pay cheques.

So, if the Liberals pull up their socks, they could win a majority in 2025 (don't need the NDP), if they continue to free fall, the CP could form a majority (don't need the NDP). If called now, it's possible they get some votes from the Liberals and form another coalition government. I just see a week to moderate Liberal party being the best bet for the NDP, which is what we currently have, and a really stong or really weak Liberal party being their worst option.

All the NDP have to gain is avoiding getting smeared with the fecal matter when it hits the fan because of the Liberals actions so far. The sooner the NDP call a snap election, the less fallout for what bad news is coming in the future.

If there is bad news, and all signs indicate there will be, and the NDP wait, then the chance to flip Liberal swing seats their way is lost, and the political fallout for being associated with the bad decisions made by the Liberals will remove the NDP from many of the seats they now hold.

The NDP cannot govern. Look at the Provincial Governments they have wrecked under their reign of incompetence. They just want a cheque.

You guys are REALLY funny in your understanding of the NDP supporters and their resolve.

An NDP Supporter will scream that we have to solve the affordable housing crisis, the climate crisis, the homelessness crisis, the opioid crisis, ... AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD SPEND THE MONEY TO DO SO!!!

When you say to the NDP Supporter that they do not have to wait for the Government to solve the problem by spending money, and that the NDP Supporter only has to donate money to a Charity addressing the problem, the NDP Supporter will shut up, grab his wallet, call you a Fascist, and move on.

You see, the NDP Supporter is blowing smoke and hot air. They do not have the conviction in their whining to put their own money to the perceived problem that they want the rest of us to pay for. After all, we are the Government and fund the Government, so why should the NDP Supporter do it????

Even if the NDP force a non confidence vote the federal separatists will prop up the liberals. That party has nothing to lose, they have a captive voting base.

Interesting take and one I don’t disagree with. However I question if this is really not the case for all parties.

The ndp is, and always has been about spending someone else's money, until it runs out, then they lose an election, and leave a mess for the party that takes over.

I don't understand why Canadians would want to see Americans spout their junk North of the border. Bugs me when Canadians fawn over the Donald and a clown like Carlson. Or that fact, as mentioned here, Clinton.

Are they the Messiah's down there? If so, we have problems. They are a clown show down South and I am not interested in any snake oil they are trying to sell.

Hahaha, if Tucker got ya riled up, you should just see the latest headline coming from our own country: lieberals illegally use the Emergencies Act (War Measures Act). How’s that for a headline?

IMHO, I think we will be under a minority government for awhile. PCs will have to make inroads in Ontario and Quebec for a majority, doesn't matter what happens out west. Calling mayors in Montreal and Quebec idiots not endearing to Poilievre. So if PCs win in 2025, they will have to go to bed with another party to prop them up........no scientific or statistical information to back this up, just my opinion.

I used to like Tucker and he had some video interviews that showed a lack of knowledge by some on oil and gas.

Now he has devolved to an entertainer with zero regard for facts and truth but he screams it out loud and has people believing it. It’s about tabloid made up shock stories to bring viewers. Add a little fact and then stir in tons of crap and see what sticks.

It’s like Trudeau screaming he is a feminist which causes people to shy away from arguing that he isn’t.

Tucker himself had to admit he’s 100% two faced and will do and say anything to attract viewer and maximize his profits. Just like Trudeau.

They may be arguing the opposite side of the political spectrum but they are both charlatans and fraud and have been proven.

But people have blinders to those that espouse similar emotions and as such the market remains strong for these flimflam artists.

At the same time Tucker is saying on TV that Trump is awesome and the election was stolen, back in the news room and in emails and texts he is saying Trumps and idiot and of course the election was fair.

Trudeau says he never pressured anyone over SNC Lavalin and then later said of course he had to say something to Jody because he had to stand up for Quebec jobs.

Those two are twin brothers.

One day people will see it and stop paying both of these idiots.

IMHO

Well I did go, and I have to agree that Tucker was full of showmanship, but he had some very good points.

When it came to the idea of how to answer the woke Left who attempt to demonize anyone who challenges their ideas by calling the person a "racist", he was right in his approach of laughing at that person, who does not know you, knows nothing of your beliefs, and is trying to marginalize your point of view.

Simply put, accuse the accuser of labelling you as a "racist" to avoid providing proof for what they are proposing, whether it is Climate Change, or some other idea like decriminalizing drug abuse and use, or homelessness. Put to the accuser that they are attempting to silence any opposition to their position by demonizing you as a "racist" when they really have no clue what they are talking about and cannot defend their ideas.

But otherwise, for all the talk, the speakers who were worth listening to were Premier Smith & Conrad Black.

Jordan Peterson provided some human nature analysis, but did not really put out any political position on policy.

I would have liked someone to speak on the adoption of policies by Government Leaders (Trudeau, Singh, Freeland, Biden) of the World Economic Forum, and the implementation by Federal Bureaucrats of these WEF policies when it contradicted the National Interest of a Country and its citizens, but maybe that is too complex for the crowd who were there.

Unfortunately that is the strategy of the more radical on each side of the spectrum. Trump uses it even against his own competitors in the presidential race.

We’ve even seen it on here where someone doesn’t agree with everything someone espouses and are labeled then a liberal or socialist.

In almost all segments of society it’s become I’m right and everyone else is wrong. No gray. In fact people can list 100 things that are common but 1 thing can make them enemies or evil or worthy of hatred.

It’s been under Trudeau that it’s really grown in vitriol of divisiveness. People on the left hate you if you don’t want to ruin the economy in the name of global warming. They hate you if you work in the oil industry. They hate you if supported basic convoy ideals. Hate you now if you support Israel.

Doesn’t seem as bad on the right but if you say you support “a” liberal initiate the right hates you. If you don’t believe every tenant of the convoys they hate you. If you believe in the science of vaccinations they hate you. If you believe the convoy went too far they hate you.

When emotions run high it seems, cognitive rational and thinking goes out the door.

A snowstorm means we are dying of global warming. A flood means we are dying of global warming. Some guy shoots up city hall and it’s got to be staged. Conspiracies explode around at the edges of reasonableness and then mask what could be real ones.

Click bait websites and fast talking entertainers stroke both our egos and our fears as the bait on the lures and wait for the fish to bite.

While Tucker can say stuff that makes sense… it serves as the gravy to wash down the absolutely idiotic things he says.

Again… he is now an entertainer. Just like a comedian. Pointing at stuff that triggers our emotion and validates us in a complex soup of group common mind fears and think.

Fun days.

I can't honestly believe you said that.
Your disdain for anything Tucker or Trump related has been noted on here for many years.

Or were you just trying to use that line to make the rest of your statement appear more sincere and therefore, believable?

Next you'll try to convince us that there was a time when you liked Trump.

Perhaps you could try a page out of Freeland's handbook?

You need to re-read what I wrote. Not just skim it.

Sigh. There it goes. Attacking anyone that doesn’t quite see things the same way another.

My stance about Trump has been consistent.

He’s a lying narcissist who is the best option as President for Alberta and Biden is a walking Coma. Trump is the best of a bad choice.

I’ve watched the Republican primary race. Hard to say who is better. Can Trump beat Biden? Would Nikki have a better chance? I must say the cream of the crop for leaders fall far short of what it should be in the US or Canada.

Tucker has said lots of stuff. But his outright lying and sucking up to Trump was so telling in his personal court filings. Does he talk to help people or talk to get you to give him money.

He is an extremely smart entertainer. But he is no messiah for the right. He wants your money.

Oh the left love to trigger also. Absolutely are experts at it. Exactly what I said.

When you listen to the noise from the far left and the far right. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Re-read what I wrote. Sounds like we agree.

Tucker Carlson trashes on Canada a little too much for my liking. I'm a conservative but I'm also Canadian.

Yeah we've got some problems but nothing like the US.

I find it interesting that every time the annual Davos meeting wraps up the Liberals head for a cabinet retreat. Jus to make sure they are all on the same page as Klause so to speak.

Well you’ve accomplished what you set out to do. I heard at least 4 or five heads go off so far. BOOM!

I just got back to Peace River tonight after attending the Edmonton talks yesterday evening.

My wife grabbed the tickets for us, and initially when she did so I wasn't all hot and bothered to go. When I then heard that Conrad Black and Rex Murphy were also to be on the panel is when my interest piqued. And finally, the substitution of Murphy for Jordan Peterson was also agreeable. Nothing against Rex. I just dig Peterson.

Carlson - while not to be taken literally one hundred percent of the time - provided some salient commentary on the state of our country. Toward the front end of his words he in fact made note that he was far from an authoratative pundit on Canadian politics and social issues, but rather that he is a keen observer from an arm's length. From that vantage point I feel that he accurately summarized the highly questionable motives of our federal government's policies and stances on immigration, euthanasia, 'safe supply' and alphabet people. I could do without his dog whistle type showmanship as I don't think that it adds to his credibility, but I do understand that for better or for worse such is his brand.

Conrad Black and Jordan Peterson added some intellectual clout to the evening. Black weighed in predominantly (and was well-measured) on political topics, while Peterson steered his part of the conversation toward the spiritual and humanistic side of current affairs. I lament that we failed to see the best from either of these two men as ultimately it was a friendly back and forth discussion. A contrarian voice or two - turning this into a proper debate - would have been enjoyable. Peterson in particular has a mind which can spar incredibly well against oppositional ideas, but instead we were left with him musing (unchalleneged) about theological pursuits.

I was very happy for my wife that we were in attendance. She was fired from her teaching job in the Yukon over the jab. Strongly desiring to continue in her career we moved back to Peace River - leaving Whitehorse - in order for her to regain employment in her field. While in the Yukon she felt incredibly isolated after being shunned by large segments of her professional and personal community. And now to be in the presence of so many similarly-minded individuals last night was a bit of an affirmation that she's not alone in her perspectives. In a way it was cathartic, and that's incredibly worthwhile.

Overall I enjoyed the evening out. Remember that at the end of the day it was all little more than words. But to read the reactions from the Toronto Star and the CBC you'd be hard pressed to think that it was anything other than right-wing hedonism. The hyperbole on display in what should rightly be unbiased reporting - and not editorialiazing - is damning.
