Default goose species question

what are these little tiny Canada geese , strain or species , they are smaller then a Ross's goose, not much bigger then a large mallard duck really,
act like snow geese when they come in to decoys, squawk and are very noisy
and come in large flocks of 300 or more at a time
would they be Aleutian geese

Default Didnt know where you were diesel

but sometimes ducks and geese dont know the territory they are supposed to stay in either. In 1983 I shot what myself and my partner (a biologist)felt sure was an Atlantic Brant on a diver hunt on big water in northern Ontario,
We have had one confirmed case of a King Eider on a lake in Alberta!!

We used to see a few Black Brant every fall, before there were a lot of Geese.

I haven't seen one now for over forty years. Not sure if the exploding goose population has anything to do with that or not.

I do know that it is not all that uncommon to see ocean birds and high arctic birds in this district.

I've photographed both Pacific Loon and Old Squaw Ducks along the Peace River in recent years.

And I'm pretty sure I photographed a flock of Cackling Geese just down the road from my place a couple of falls ago.

When I lived in Saskatchewan we called them lessers or cacklers. Never seen many around Calgary until this year. About 1/2 an hour East a couple thousand just showed up last week.
