What broad heads do you like
Just getting back into bow hunting and trying to figure out what to use.
Do you like mechanical or fixed blade ? Brand or models ?
Thanks for your input.

In my experience fixed is best.
The less moving parts the better.
And sometimes the mechanicals don't open when you want them to.
You will get truer flight with fixed.
But do what you want.

I used Muzzys for about 30yrs,I like them but this year I'm going to try Grizz tricks. They have a 1 1/4 inch cut and fly like field points.

Not a fan of mechanicals myself as for one they loose penetration power due to energy loss during deployment. I subscribe to the KISS mentality as less moving parts = less chance for failure.
Fixed blades there are plenty of great broadheads that will all fly true out of a properly tuned bow! Some top picks for me include G5 Striker, wasp sst, wac'em, shuttle T, slick tricks however I have been really impressed with what I have heard and seen with the QAD Exodus and will be shooting a 125 this year.
Good luck
Mike

I've been digging grim reapers the last few years. I've notched 7 kills with them over the last 3 years and my blood trails have never been shorter.

I use montec's most of the time. Trying some PX-2's right now but finding them finicky to tune.
Both are fixed blade. I don't trust all the moving parts in a mech head to work all the time, every time.

Best of Both Worlds
I use NAP blood runners. They have been effective on deer, moose and bear. The are a hybrid broadhead in that they fly line a small diameter fixed blade and open on impact but retract as they penetrate to maximize penetration. Fi they were to fail to open on impact, they are still like a fixed blade. JMHO.

Mike. Have you shot these yet? How do they fly compared to field points?

Havent had a chance yet as I just replace my strings and put a new sight and rest on so I am still in the tuning process but they are suppose to fly just like field tips with there blade over shaft technology it has a short profile just like a field point so FOC is near identical.
Some good videos on youtube

I have used the QADs that mike just posted for the past 2 seasons. Best broad head I have ever used. Fly just like field points and penetrate amazingly! I used slick tricks forever and was hesitant to change but now am glad I did.

I shoot NAP Killzones with the cut on contact tip...they have been very accurate for me in practice although i have not had a chance to take a shot on a deer with them yet. They are a mechanical broadhead and i have yet to have them open in flight or in my quiver.

These are what I shoot, never had a problem with these heads.Very easy to tune and shoot. The only downfall of these that I have found so far is that their not very sharp out of the package but you can at least sharpen them

Fixed blade. Moving parts = failure, eventually.
Depends on your setup. A fast 70 lb bow with a heavy arrow will often shoot small profile, steep angle, thicker blades well, and have enough ke to drive them through.
I had under penetration issues with g5 strikers (60 lb bow with light arrows), two deer hit well, no exit so no blood trail, coyotes found em before i did. Worst feeling in the world switched back to muzzy 3 blade standard 100 gr (thinner blades, less steep angle); everything I've shot at since has had an exit wound and died within sight.
I consider broadheads disposable. After spending how many thousands of dollars in gear and fuel, some guys insist on trusting possibly bent or weakened, resharpened blades I don't get it, but to each their own.

Very surprised I'm the 1st one to say G5 Strikers. 100 gr. Fixed 3 blade for the win and I tune the blades to match the same path as the veins.

Your not I suggested them. .. They are a good broadhead and if I didnt decide to go with a heavier 125 grain this year I would t have changed to the exodus.
