Default Sheep Show auction 2024 - on now

Anyone else following this tonight? Some high prices being paid.

The Colorado big horn hunt went for $600K! A new record by over $100K from any hunt they've ever auctioned, and almost double last years cost of $320K.

The Oregon big horn went for $450K, up from $370K last year.

The BC mountain sheep just sold at $430K, $270K last year.

The Alberta big horn is the final lot of the night, last year it went for $375K.

website is online hunting auctions . com

Todd Loewen is doing quite a speech before the Alberta big horn auction starts. Talking about how the hunt is a one-year long opportunity to sit outside the restricted areas and wait for the biggest ram to come out, how fish and game office will be available to help the successful bidder in anyway they can, and then he said he would personally come and help pack the ram off the mountain.

Sold for only $320K, considerably lower than several other tags tonight. The only big tag to sell for less than it did last year, by a significant margin.

Colorado has a 200" ram on private land that carries a hefty trespass fee as well. Up to $300000 is what I heard the fee will be to the purchaser.

Personally, a 180" Alberta wild ram that has lived long enough on public land open to everybody has a higher value too me. My opinion only, I don't have a spare $1000000 .....

Not surprising with more and more of our sanctuary sheep being available to subsistence harvest, no improvements to habitat or sheep herd range, and ever increasing resident hunting effort and pressure. Not the tag it once was if you want a 200” er.

Yet 190's are taken in the general season every year....

For this kind of money, the buyers want some assurance they will kill the ram they "purchased".

The Colorado rams on the hitlist.

Todd backpacked at least two of his own rams out of the Willmore on solo hunts, so he was probably serious about helping.

Default Montana rams

I recall that Montana also auctions off a bighorn hunt.
Any details available?
