For the guys using the Leupold CDS scope, how is the repeatability in cold weather?

The simple answer is the same as in hot weather.

That would depend on how the temperature effects the load. If the velocity changes significantly, the zero can change, as well as the trajectory. Both of those things can effect the points of impact at various distances.

When I chrono my loads for the cds I do it when it is below 0 to replicate hunting conditions. I chrono ten shots then send Korth the average.

The ones that I use, which is three are not effected by cold weather. So that would be the answer to your question. There is another thread going on how cold temps can effect your load.

That would be how the temp changes the load, not the CDS. Thought maybe it made it hard for you to adjust in colder temps.

And if the velocity of the load changes, the trajectory changes, which would throw the CDS turret out of calibration, if it was based on the trajectory of the load in warm weather.

Should have phrased it differently, was wondering if the CDS ever failed to dial up or down under various conditions.

No troubles with mine, but others may find they have issues.

I have 3 vx3 cds scopes. I have shot them in cold temperatures and they all seem to work fine.

The CDS system is nothing more than a calibrated adjustment knob, it doesn't effect the function of the scope.

There are lots of things that can change your point of impact including temperature barometric pressure humidity and altitude. The amount that theses things affects point of impact is magnified by the distance you intend to shoot. If your keeping it under a few hundred yards then it is likely not an issue.

If you are shooting longer distances you might want to consider using a ballistics calculator and dial turrets for better shooting solutions

Try this site and change some variables and see how it affects your point of impact.

It's also important the your extreme spread in the velocity of the ammo your using be low or your point of impact can very quite a bit on long distances.

using all my powers of deduction; it sounds to me like you are asking if the cds system on leupold scopes behave as they should when used in cold weather as well as they do through the warm season.
i have had 4scopes outfitted with cds dials; 2 vx2, an fx3, and a vx3. all seemed to function as they should in coyote season and in the gopher patch.

I have had zero scope issues with my Leupold CDS scopes in cold weather. I don't think there is anything to be concerned about, it's really, essentially, a dial.
