bobcat hunting squirrels
We were standing in the garage with the door open and my wife in a shocked voice asks me "what's that?" and of course when I turn around there's nothing. A moment later I see a bobcat. Then another, and then 2 kittens.
The first cat nabbed a squirrel and then the other 3 were right there with it. I think the momma then took the squirrel and feasted with the kittens below my neighbour's bay window.
What a sight in the middle of the day! Was just about 2 o'clock which I thought seemed like an odd time of day to see such a thing.
Not the best photos but nice to see just the same.

Wow! Thank you for the post and the pictures! Too bad they don't range as far North as the Edmonton region.

bobcats
This was in sundance. First time I've see cats outside of fish creek. Excellent summer with an owl that took up residence close by and now these guys coming around. Nice to see a good food source for these guys.

They'll take stray cats and small dogs along with those squirrels. Remind your neighbors with toddlers to keep an eye out for this family of bobcats as well.

Bigwoodsman; I also live in Sundance and there is / was a family under the neighbours deck. Suddenly the stray cats have disappeared, racoons seems to have "gone", and the grey squires have a new population number lower than before but still not low enuff!!!! All anecdotal but I hope they continue to enjoy the neighbourhood!!

cats in neighbourhood
Fortunately no toddlers on this side of the laneway. Ironic the homeowners were coming out to walk the dogs while I was snapping pics. The dogs were quickly put back into the house. BTW....pics were taken with a zoom lens, I know I can't run that fast!

Need them to move over to my area. Too many squirrels. Buggers are eating the tops of my beets. Also this year seems to be a banner year for rabbits. Need some critter to eat them. I still have yet to see a raccoon but they are around.
When I bury 100 perch in the garden something keeps digging them up. I need to invest in a trail cam to catch the culprit.

Feeding perch to the skunks and racoons ....... no wonder they are hanging around your place.
Motion sensor sprinkler - saw it on you tube to control critters - not sure if it was a retail purchase or something someone had made - but it's an idea nevertheless.

There must be quite a few bobcats in Calgary. Or one family that sure moves around a lot because we have tons of sightings. We had a momma and kittens under my canoe last year. I love watching these cats.

Awesome pics, pretty special experiance. I would love it if some would take up residence in Arbour Lake to thin some rabbits. ( some of the big Jacks could be a challenge to take down)

They are I think. I heard a jack rabbit getting killed in the back alley, the screaming went on for quite awhile.

Bobcats are not so rare down here they come and go along with fox and coons and such from year to year.

bobcat
Saw this one on the neighbour's fence by Willow Park Golf course 2 weeks ago, she had 2 kittens below, fewer squirrels and rabbits lately.
