To the original poster, even around Edmonton we have not broken winter's spell yet. While city-drainage ponds are ice-free, I drove past shallow Bretona Pond today, just southeast of the city, and it was still almost completely ice-covered. Hopefully some warmer weather will help you out over the next 2 or 3 weeks, in time for your northern adventure fishing trip!
