Default US Covid19 pandemic blowing up...how bad will it get?

European countries have banned Americans from visiting

Only a couple ICU beds left in greater Houston area

4 Texas cities have halted elective surgeries

Texas Florida California all blowing up... others look to follow

Border with Canada still closed

Governments refusing to impose mask laws and enforce

US hit a new pandemic this infection peak

Areas worst hit have lowest rate of health insurance.

Disney to remain closed

People are going nuts down there

Americans have been caught lying about going to Alaska and instead going to Jasper and Banff.

It looks like it is going to implode like Italy and Spain and Brazil.

It looks like they are exploiting a loophole, that can cost them a pretty big fine if they are caught.

I sure hope this is the case until they get their numbers down. Last thing we need is infected tourists. Keep the essential goods moving but that's it.

Florida has had 3300 deaths due to Covid 19. I think it’s population is around 21.5 mm. My calculator is broken. Can someone do the math on that for me?

3300 dead in the first quarter of the pandemic.

Thats 3300 spouses without their partner.

3300 funerals that likely wont be held.

3300 families in mourning, from 1 disease, in 1 state.

How many do you want to see before you put batteries in your calculator?

We are going to find out just how bad it is in the next 15 months. They have been saying 18 months all along, now with people throwing caution to the wind everywhere we are going to find out soon.

Perspective on that, from today's CDC data for 2020:
Florida 2930 COVID deaths.
Deaths from all causes 91,429.
Deaths involving pneumonia, with or without COVID, excluding influenza 7028.

3.2% of the 2020 deaths in Florida have been from COVID. Best close the entire State forever. Just to be sure.

There has been suspect data tracking in Florida...however the deaths continue to rise.

Once in the elderly population it will greatly increase the numbers unless they get really lucky.

The greatest problem is you suffer an accident and need am ICU bed...and none are available. That is the greatest risk.

It still looks like two key factors of death are diabetes and obesity.

Death rate in New York was 10 times higher. How can that be? What would the cause be?

Proximity maybe. Planting infected individuals in nursing homes maybe?

For the most part I think the majority of us have the right idea. Lessen the curve. Avoid contact. No big meetings or gatherings. Work, raise your family, become educated as we were before it hit.

I am going to continue as I am now, no funerals, weddings, avoid bunches of people as much as possible, do everything I can to not get sick.

Maybe less now, but one would think a high population of Oldies would slant the death rate upwards.

Seriously? Planted?

What was shown was increased spread when you have a staff member who works in multiple seniors facilities.

Was proven in US, Europe and Canada.

Definitely hits seniors the hardest.

Would be great if people just followed the social distancing/mask rules. Would be interesting to see what would of happened.

As it stands now the US is on pace and plan to essentially let this pandemic runs its own course.

Arrow My Two Centavos . . .

.
Is this the beginning of the 'Second Wave' in the USofA, or just a continued building of their 'First Wave'❓ In the end, I guess it doesn't really matter ... if yer dead, yer dead.

And in spite of border crossings being partially restricted, there's still Way too many Yanks being allowed into Canada right now ... I say keep them 'Out', until they get their Act together ❗

Meanwhile, 'back at the ranch', US hospitals continue to fill up with COVID cases . . .

Their current mortality rate is 3%, 18% end up in ER. With 5500 new infections a day currently, they appear to be just a head of a pretty big wave......

Suggest you review the difference between "testing positive" and "being infected."
Johns Hopkins has good information about that.

Ok I’ll bite. If you test positive you are infected. Isn’t that obvious or you trying to tell us something different

People can carry sufficient virus fragments post-infection to test positive, when they are no longer infected. Just one example.

Florida’s per capita death rate due to COVID is 32% lower than Canada, so let’s not be too proud of ourselves in Canada.

In other Florida news:

Man eaten by shark. Official cause of death, Covid 19.

That will be telling. If there is a spike I'm pretty confident that there will be a back up in how things are done. Re-closures of restaurants, and travel restrictions will be back on.
