Leftover Granite

I'm obviously not a granite guy so pls keep the flaming to a min.

I've ended up with a piece of leftover granite after a kitchen reno but have absolutely no idea how much to ask for it.
The reno was done a while back and I can't recall what I originally paid and am having trouble finding anything to compare it to.

It is a broken slab that they just needed to finish off the counters.

L:121" x 26" (at the thinnest part) and goes up to 40" at the thickest

It is 3/4" thick and I have no idea what it is called but it is mostly quite dark grey/black with white/lighter patches throughout. Once it is sealed it looks darker than the pics indicate.

Not a whole lot. Pretty select few looking for a piece like that. You never know though. List is and traffic will determine price.

Look on Kijiji, not just Calgary but all of Alberta and other provinces. A while back there were a couple adds selling random pieces just like you have. You never know. I quess cutting it square/straight would be the biggest issue for the prospective new owner. Good luck.

Use it and make yourself a nice coffee table to match your counters and then you dont have to sell it.
It will prevent you from having to buy yourself a coffee table..... and will give you a nice table.

It would make a great backyard BBQ table. Don`t square it off, character. If I lived closer I`d make a deal on it.

Would make a nice bar top for a man cave. Or, keep it as-is and custom make a back yard planter/gardening table out of it. Or, make it into an awesome fire pit bench!

If you can cut the it would make a nice backyard benchtop. Otherwise, try contacting a couple of the local stone counter or tombstone companies. Some artists etch stone too. Advertize it on kijiji. Any of these might want it for a fair price. It has a good shape for a what they call a banjo counter top for in the bathroom. I'm sure the slab has some value.

Or get it cut into 3 or 4 inch wide strips and one edge finished ...nice backsplash for a counter.

Thanks for all the great ideas, and aside from the offers of beer I'll have a think on what to do with it. While using it for a project would be cool, that's just not in the cards right now.
I've done plenty of searching for any sort of ballpark $/sq.ft and still have no idea where it stands, so maybe a "best offer" on kijiji and let the market determine.

And yes, that friggin thing weighs a LOT. 4 of us fairly strong guys all nearly blew an O-Ring moving it off the truck and 10ft into the garage

You'd be lucky if you got $100 for it off kijiji. It's not worth even close to it's retail value (Granite ~$10-20/sq ft material only) as it would need to be templated, cut, polished, etc. Most of the cost of Granite is the prep and install work. A slab like that, installed, ~$1500-2,000. (anywhere between $60-120/sq ft)

It's only value is someone else using it as a funky project like a bench, table top, etc.

Throw it on kijiji for $300. You'll get offers of probably $50-100.

The weight probably well north of 300 lbs. 3/8th's granite is 5 lbs/sq ft. So that slab is around 10 lbs/sq ft.

Any offer of $ is a good offer. Place an ad and try your luck. I would keep the asking price low to not scare away any potential buyers. Be gald if you can get $50-100 for it, that's 17-33 cents per pound.

Granite companies often have piles of these type of pieces littering their yards. Many will let you take a piece for free just so they don't have to pay to dispose of it.

If you could use it outside for a table, a continuous rim diamond blade and a circular saw is all you need to cut it to size.
