Default What are these cities thinking.

What are Calgary and Edmonton thinking by banning single use bags, utensils and other items from restaurants.

When I go to McDonalds they will charge 15c for a bag, Are they really thinking that the bag is not going to end up in the landfill?

Lots of them don’t end up in a landfill. I get lots of them in my fields along the highways.

I won’t buy any drive through food or take out well in these cities. In all honesty I have basically cut out all fast food and eating out because it has become way too overpriced anyway. It’s basically restricted to when I am on long trips now

It's a health initiative and it seems to be working.

Going up to .25C a bag soon. Told my daughter when that comes, may have to drive to Sh park and support their Fast Food joints seeing as were right beside them. Redmonton city council is effed up thinking their blyaws are saving the planet.

What I don’t get is why is the money going to the business? The city instituted it but then decided it was too much hassle to collect it so it’s just money in the pockets of corporations.

Because the more they make, the more tax they pay to Sohi's boss in ottawa.
Also GST on all those bags.
JT's idea, I'm sure. Minions doing as they're told.

So how can they implement this after a federal court shot down the federal ban on single use plastics?

Default Its a scam

nothing but another token of worship at the eco-altar. Its such a lucrative scam that the food joints in the CrossIron Mills have started charging too! They have the Calgary Bylaw posted on their little food stall plexiglas dividers-too bad they are in Rockyview County, not the City of Calgary. Idiots...

They are just following Calgary's lead on that bylaw. It was implemented here in 2015.
It's all about limiting liability.
