Good day all, Question for someone who may have answer.. Got into my truck and warmed up the glow plugs and went to start, Heard a click noise and truck shut down.. Does this mean my starter is toast? I’m asking cause with all the fancy electronics one never knows.... Thanks

Likely dead or low batteries, throw a battery charger on it for a half hr and then try again.

Your truck doesn't have glow plugs.........

It has a Grid Heater....

Batteries would be my first look. See if the posts are clean. Your batteries should be good...but who knows.

Them newer trucks wont even try to turn over if the batteries are low.

Just click...

Keep us posted. I'm curious to hear what it was if not dead or weak batteries.

My truck seems to eat a set every 2 to 3 years. Always replaced by warranty. Happened twice now and no warning signs leading up to it. Just won't start. Happens in the cold.

Goodluck.

Double check the battery and connections see if there any burn mark or sparks on the wires ... because the clicking sounds of it seems like battery issue from personal experience

Interested because I'm having very similar issues with my 2006. All points to the neutral safety switch (automatic transmission). Kick the key on, brake and shift to neutral while the grid heaters are warming up, then try to turn it over in neutral. If it does (even momentarily) my guess is something to do with the NSS.

Good luck, I've been researching my own problem for a couple of weeks now and have it narrowed down to that. Going to try some "innovative" solutions to get around all the safety Crap in the electronics.

Let us know what you find out...

J.
