Opinion: Are Saskatchewan gophers bigger and meaner than Alberta gophers?
I think Saskatchewan gophers are bigger and meaner than Alberta gophers.
What do my fellow AO members think?

An Alberta trophy should square out at around 6inches, have taken them up to 7 1/2 in Saskatchewan.
You need a 300 Weatherby for the really big ones.We either spot and stalk,or use bait.

you guys with your little "ground squirrels". come to manitoba ... if you dare!
i was out walking the dog today and 3 of them ganged up on him and tried hauling him off to their burrow. lord knows what they had in mind!
so i sprayed one with my bear spray (you never walk in the prairies without it)
and the other two lept on that one and started tearing him apart, squeaking something about "hot wings".
zombie gophers i am sure. i think i beat the dog to the car.

I was in the National Zoo in Washington DC a few years back and one of the 'animals' that you could look at in it's cage was a 'prairie dog'...like really...I didn't have to travel all the way to DC to see those lol

Alberta's are bigger because we have a few of the larger Columbian variety, SK doesn't have these guys.

And I too wish someone would pop that Gainer guy at Taylor field....or whatever they are calling it these days! That horse in Calgary too....the way that horse runs sometimes is animal abuse....
