is there a glue to repair a stock

i was given a old Spanish 410 Chrome Double Barrel witha broken stock.
any idea of a glue to use? i not going to use it anyway.just s show piece.

Tough one. For that i would use a two part clear epoxy, let it set at least 24 hours. You can use a clear roll of plastic hockey sock tape for holding the two parts of the wrist together while the epoxy is setting. once it’s dry, take the tape off, and if it doesn’t feel solid, you have a second option which is to drill a small pilot hole from the good side of the stock through to the bad side. Then use a screwdriver to turn a number 4 or 6 brass wood screw into the pilot hole. Run the screw through the two cracked halves, be sure to use a drill bit of sufficient size so the pilot hole is large enough that the screw turns in snug but not so snug that it may break while turning. Once it’s through and into good wood cut the screw head off with a hack saw blade or small dremel loaded with a cut off wheel. Then you can file the remaining cut/protruding brass below the head cautiouslywith a fine metal file being careful not to file the wood. I have repaired several marlin 336’s where the wrist of the rear, stock fits around the rear of the receiver. You may need to install two or three screws, try to hide their locations if you can. if you want you can put a layer or two of duck tape on the wood around the screw when cutting the head off - this should minimize damage to the stock from the teeth on the hacksaw blasé while cutting the screw off. The brass screws tie the broken halves together. They are left in the stock permanently.

Get the 2 sides slightly wet, throw some Elmers on there, clamp it together...

I’ve used PL Premium. Slightly open up crack and lap in PL Premium with a syringe or tooth pick. Clamp tight and wipe off excess and it will never break or crack in that spot again.

My dad bought a brand new Kimber Super America and on the first shot while sighting it in the for end cap fell off. Obviously not impressed he called Kimber and they said, glue it back on with Gorilla glue... so he did.

The boys are right, the modern glues will suit you just fine. The last owner found that duct tape was OK so you have a better solution.

If using glue or other adhesive, use PVA (otherwise known as regular wood glue). A trick is to spread the wood glue all over and then put a few drops of super glue here and there right before connecting the two pieces. The super glue will dry moments later, holding the two pieces together while the PVA take its time to fully cure (24 hours), making a permanent joint. Don’t think you need anything more than wood glue because if applied properly, it makes a extremely strong in wood and it will likely never break again in that very spot. Wood glue is also easy to clean up before it cures. It can also be sanded and stained.

I have never glued a stock together though, but not see why it wouldn’t work.

I used wood glue on a very bad break on a rifle, but get the glue in every crack you can! Then I used solid hardwood pins and set them in and used glue on them, been using the rifle for years!

Does no one use the straight brass pins anymore? They use to be the go too back in the day. Smaller hole then doweling and not much chance of splitting the wood by using and over tightening screws.

Titebond 2 or 3. That stuff is crazy strong.

I don’t know about the stock but my scout leader had one of those.
They’re so ugly that they’re cool. I wish I had bought his all those years ago.
