2nd vote for the blaser k95.

Love mine to pieces. It takes down, i use it for sheep hunting, lives in my pack, it does regular deer stuff just fine too. Mine is set up to go 600 and you can take it apart and put it back together all day it will shoot moa groups in my hands in field conditions to 600 (read sub-moa easy on the bench...factory ammo). The handling, feel, quality, accuracy....is as good as it gets imo but you'll need some dollars to get one. Scope mount alone are about 600 bucks and it is also a switch barrel, add a few calibers if you want. Highest quality rig i've ever owned. Versatile af too. Drop the scope off and use the iron sights. Bare without scope its like 5 1/2 lbs. .270 win with 23 5/8" barrel.

At the price of #1's and 1885's these days, Merkel's and Blasers aren't that much of a stretch, seems to me Wolverine has some Haenel's as well. And when it comes to carrying, the euro break action singleshots are sweet, blow the doors off a Ruger or 1885 highwall in that dept., and they have strong actions. Certainly better than the TC or H&R or NEF N. American break actions, but, like anything else that is well made, you do have to pay for it.

We haven't gotten to hunting with it .... doubt we will .... 13 pounds .....

Shoots dam nice with my handloads, pedersoli quigly sharps 45-120 replica aka thumper .... gonna do some shooting with it this year. But it's pretty nice and only real thing I've played with that's a single shot ....😮

Can pull trigger A and it goes bang like a normal trigger , or you hit trigger B first then A is like oh idk in the ounces ..... like a sniper rifle from 1874 it's pretty cool 😎

You think $1800 Ruger no. 1 and $5800 Blaser k95 are the same price group?

They can be had a bit cheaper than that, depending on the finish level. Takes a bit of time and searching, but it can be had in used in the 35 range if you look around, Merkel's can be had in the 2500 range used, they have better wood and triggers on either one than the Ruger or 1885. New 1885 will be over 2000 seeing as they have an MSRP at 16 US now, Ruger has cracked the 2 mark as well. Neither the Ruger or the 1885 have decent wood these days. There is a Davidson's special 1885 this yr, it's a bit more loot yet though. WTH, it's only money, and you buy it so you can burn up even more money.
