Smile Help With Alberta Turkey Hunt

Have you been drawn for turkey this spring and need help?

I know of some good properties and have hunted these magnificent "King of Gamebirds" for 19 years and love to help out first time hunters (especially if it involves minors hunting on a partner tag with a Parent!).

Drop me a post if you are looking for some help to try and call in one of these wary birds.

Hey gobbler fanatic (or anyone for that matter), do you know anything of turkeys north of Cochrane?
My wife hit one on Hwy 22 about 20km north of Cochrane (1400 $ damage!) and we've seen them in various places nearby for the last couple years.
Just wondering if these would be a private release or is the province trying to establish a population in this part of the country?

Years back a fellow by the name of Ken Bills released some birds in the Carstairs Cremona area. I am sure that there are others that thought Ken's idea was good.

I saw a single track west of Sundre last November.

Including those who use the 999 priority builder, there were 19429 applicants for 125 tags. In 2017, a priority 9 gave you a 1 in 5 chance of success. 390 applicants who entered the draw, plus the 253 priority builder applicants with priority 10 and above, plus the 762 with priority of 9 equates to 1405. If all 1405 apply ( I know all wont), it will likely take a priority of 12, with a small % of 11 being drawn.

I agree with Lefty-Canuck if you have not started to apply or build priority, you likely will never get it. If the population of Turkeys drastically increases, it may help. I think we need a Turkey release program.....

I got within about 30 yards of one in 406 back in May 2017. Couldn't believe my eyes.
