Set up in some wolf areas and try howling.

JPK

This is what I do is howl them in or distress call them in with a Elk Reed

just watch your wind

for Wolf howling I just use my hands

be ready for any thing & in close by the time you see them sometimes

not for the faint of heart

even have serenade them at night then came back in morning n watched

if they know what you are they will hold up n send scout

just try a different spot after seeing fresh sign

got 2 out of 3 n same thing 6 day later .. 4 Wolves

calling Wolves is the Ultimate when the Hunter becomes the Hunted

called too them fishing n ice fishing & to show my boys with spotting scope

grunting for Moose or calling for Elk they will come even now

local guy just got 3 in a few minutes rattling WT here (out of 5 ,at 6yds one)

Hunting Chronicles .. Jason n Kevin howled them in on film I think(Got 3)

its fun fun fun

In my experience, when you’re out and find tracks, stop and setup to call. We call as we would for coyotes. Keep a keen eye on the birds, if there’s ravens doing funny things, keep an eye out for the big dogs.

Do you need a trappers permit/license to shoot them? I thought once big game season ends so does the “right” to shoot dogs.

Directly from the regs:

Timber Wolf
A Resident may, without a licence, hunt (but not trap) timber wolf from the opening of any big game season in a particular WMU to May 31, 2018, or until June 15, 2018 in WMUs where black bear seasons are open until June 15, 2018.

Where abouts do you hunt?

Seen a group of 3 on nov 30th, standing out in the open about noon.. north side of wmu 338.. would have smacked one of them had I not been dragging out a deer.
