Can anyone tell me how much taxidermists are charging for a moose euro mount these days?

Depends on what you want, but $300 or so is probably a starting point.

I took one to Grant at Alberta skulls a year back. He beetle cleaned, degreased, and whitened the skull. If I remember right it was right around $300.

I'm getting mine done for $150, probably due to me knowing his nephew.I won't be getting mine back till about May/June. I asked around a couple places and some were 175 plus GST and 4+ months turn around.

It's like making kraft dinner, just the ingredients are a little different.

Just finished my first WT euro and it’s really simple to do. Came out pretty good for my first attempt

I know one guy doesn't start his euros till February. It really depends on how busy the taxidermist is.

Don't be afraid to do it, I was in the same boat. Going to pay someone. Then Kurt did a thread on doing your own. I followed the instructions and my elk turned out nice. 1st time trying it. Going to do my sons big moose soon.

Super easy. Big container for hot water and skull, pressure washer, peroxide, Time. I just finished two (Mule and Elk), cant wait to mount them. They look really good.
I am not really sure how you can seriously mess it up...believe me, if you could I would have figured it out,

Haha yea i hear ya, from all the different tutorials found on here/over the internet it looked pretty simple. I have the time to do it, I was just worried I would break something. Even when I was dropping it off I was having second thoughts, mainly because I'll be away from it for so long haha. But I've already committed myself to doing it myself the next time. In the mean time tho I'll be putting together my own back drop, I got some old barn wood and the shell from the killing shot that I'll be using, so at least I'll have some fun doing something cool with that.

Hah, I am doing the same tonight. Two tones of barnboard, maybe some barb wire....something like that. it will be a work in progress. Lots of good ideas on line.
Good luck!

I noticed that Western Fur Tannery in Edmonton has beetle skull cleaning services. Might be reasonable.
